If I happen to be posting in the wrong forum, please be so kind as t move it to the correct. Thanks

I have been trap shooting for not so long and have been making progress for the last few months and improving my scores. Took some classes and will continue to do so once I recover form a back injury. Meantime I have had the chance to watch quite a few videos of world championships and Olympic events and noticed a that great majority of top level shooter seem to use Perazzi.

I know that the gun alone will not do much for me unless I have the technique worked out, but I have come across an opportunity that might not come by again and would hate to miss it especially since I have promised myself a nice present from Santa this year.

I have been offered a Perazzi Mx6 in almost new condition, with adjustable comb and butt. It has 31" ported barrels. Chokes are full on top and modified bottom with an interchangeable adjustable trigger. Also, it comes with the case, manual. stock tools and Perazzi warranty. It does not have a high grade wood but it is very nice anyhow.

I was wondering if anyone of the fellow shooters would have any notion of a fair price for a gun like this. I have a couple of pictures that will post as soon as I figure out how to do it.

Thank you for any advice.

There is one on a Gun auction site with a current bid of $2100.00 and still has 2.5 days to go.
It looks remarkably like the one in your pictures.
But really , I can not add more than that, unless I look it up in the Blue Book of gun Values and even then it is subjective to local and the flavor of the month the seller is willing to sell for.
Tight Chokes,
Rob

Thanks Rob for your answer.

Could you be so kind as to let me know the gun auction where you saw the gun, maybe you are right and it is the same gun. I hope that I'm not being had.

Do you know anything about the Mx6? Is it one of the good Perazzis?

That gun dates on or around 1976. The MT6 designation from my understanding stood for Montreal 76(Olympics) and the gun was designed as an Olympic Trap discipline gun. I was given that information many years ago from a fellow at our club who was best friends with the Perazzi Canada Rep. when I was interested in acquiring a used one that was for sale at our club. I passed on the gun as it kicked me like a mule, ie: it did not fit me!! The one you are looking at with an adjustable comb would be an after market addition. Last one I saw sell did not look as good as that one and fetched around $2000.

Thanks for your reply.

This is the problem that I find. The gun is not an MT6 it is an MX6 and I don't seem to find much information about it other than it is supposed to be a superior gun to an MT6 and most likely a precursor of the MX8.

Here is a quick summary of what I picked up off of a few posts on TrapShooters.com, I hope it helps.
The MT6 and the MX6 are not the same gun. The MT6 is a variation of the MX8 design and the MX6 is a variation of the MX3 design. The MX6 and the MX3 have a rounded monoblock. The MX8 design is a square monoblock. Both are very durable, the MX8 receiver is the flagship of the Perazzi line and the MX3 was not considered to be as highly regarded but will still out live you if treated properly.
Perazzis of the same model vary greatly in price depending on age, condition, trigger type, type of barrels/ribs/side ribs, blued/nickel/case colouring, wood type, etc etc etc
It could be worth $1800 or it could be worth $5000 if it were a combo and in excellent condition.

Do a web search
There is a MX6 combo on Guns america for $4500 I think

A lot will depend on how bad the person wants to sell.
I think you are in the ball park. Clearly it is an older gun, probably seen more shooting than you think. Pretty hard to wear them out

Thank you very much for all the input. The combined knowledge and will to help from members of this board never ceases to amaze me.

I found a couple of guns for sale and some more info about the MX6 which is apparently, quite a strong gun of the Perazzi family. Prices range from $4000 to $5500 for the combos which are in tune with the price of the gun being offered to me.

In conclusion it's not a great deal that I'm being offered, it seems to be the normal market value for this type of Perazzi. I was misguided by the prices of the MX8 that is in the whereabouts of $8000 to $10000.

I owe all of you a round of trap.

I owe all of you a round of trap.
And all I have to do is head to Ontario...
Kidding of course. I did a quick search on Guns America auction site and then filled in the info you posted.
I know vet little about those "P" guns, aside from the pretty price tag or the wood or the nice bluing.
Anyways, I Truly Thank You for the kind words and was glad to of at least offered some information or mabe gave you another avenue of thought.

I apologize for not reading your post more thoroughly. I didnt catch the MX6 designation, sorry. I thought the rib looked much different?! Once again, sorry for wasting your time.

Nothing to be sorry about and you certainly did not waste my time, in fact I researched a bit more the MT6 and although it is not regarded as highly as the MX series it is still a gun that was designed to win competitions and last forever at a much more affordable price and will keep busting clays even after many hundreds of thousands of rounds. And then, rebuilding them to almost new condition will cost in the neighbourhood of $900 to continue for another half a million rounds. It seems that you can't go wrong with a Perazzi no matter which model you choose. it’s more a matter of how much you can afford.

The MX6 like the MX3 was an attempt by Perazzi to hit a lower price point than the MX8. There is no mention of this model in Lippard's book on Perazzi and it was copyrighted in 1994 so these guns came onto the market later.

The MX6, like the earlier MX3, were very good guns but not at an MX8 price either new or used. This one looks to be in excellent condition. The top lever is in the right place and it shows no sign of blueing wear in the usual places. The wood actually isn't bad for Perazzi who are not known for putting nice wood on base models plus is has an adjustable butt and comb that look professionally done.

If a closer examination confirms the condition of the gun as excellent and it has all the paper and parts this gun would be in the $3,000-4,000 neighbourhood.

Are the barrels 31 1/2"s ? If so can you send me the sellers info? :)

If you want more information on the specific gun, try posting to the Pgun forum on shotgunworld, they are very helpful in identifying older pguns if you post the serial number of the gun and the engravings/markings on the gun:

It helps to understand that one of the reasons that Perazzi does so well at the Olympics is that the Olympic versionof trap and skeet are quicker and require faster swinging guns, which is what a lot of Perazzis are geared towards. The gun dynamics of one of their Olympic trap guns are different from those of an American trap gun in general, so try to figure out if the gun works for the version of trap you shoot. Of course if it works for you, no worries, and it is always better to be able to try out the guns for yourself before buying anyway, especially at the higher end of the price scale.

edit: as below, trapshooters.com has a lot of pgun people, and has many discussions about the MX6 combo:

Second one more useful, puts the price of an MX6 combo from '94 around $6.4k, though as you mentioned most prices put it at around $4k-5k depending on condition.
