Help with pistol optic...

Hi Folks,

I recently acquired a Sig P320 with the Romeo1 sights on it.

This is my first pistol with an optic on it.

It has the higher irons to "cowitness" I guess it's called?

I am a right handed shooter, with a left eye dominance for what it's worth.

I took it to the range today for the first time, and lucky enough for me, at 10ish yards I was bang on with the irons.

I did notice that if I had a proper sight picture with the irons, the red dot was to the right and slightly higher than the front post. More right than high.

I get that I obviously need to adjust the red dot's location, but where should that red dot be? Should it cover my front post? Should it be above it? Is the proper setup to have the red dot at a further distance?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

I don't have iron sights that work with mine, I would just line it up with the irons if they are on for you , I would just set the dot on top of the front sight, it may take a bit of fiddling to get it right. If you shoot bulls eye , than you may have to adjust the elevation. How do you like the gun?

He starts with them slaved to the irons just to get the RDS somewhat close and then adjusts from there, for a 25yd zero.

If the irons work, good.

Now shoot using the red dot and adjust the dot so it hits where you want.

I would not zero at 10 yards because it would then shoot quite high at 20.

What distance do you normally shoot? Choose a zero distance that works for you.

I put a dot on my gun for IPSC/IDPA, and most targets are 7-15 yds. Some targets will go out to 20-25 yds, and rarely farther than that in my area. So I went with a 10 yd zero, where I’d get roughly POA=POI for the bulk of the shots in a match. Close targets will hit a bit low, and farther targets will hit a bit high. I’m aiming for longer shots anyhow, so I can do a mental elevation adjustment, as mentioned in this video:
