Help with pitting in a traditions pursuit pro

I picked up this gun and there is a spot in the barrel where the guy broke the copper brush off and forgot it in the barrel for the winter. This is the story I was given either way there is a fair bad pitted area where it was I tried multiple things trying to clean it the best I can will this affect the accuracy of the gun?
Also I've looked online a bit for a replacement barrel with no luck. Any ideas?
Also fairly new to muzzleloaders so any help would be great.
 
My first muzzleloader, an investarms .50 was so badly rusted when i got it used that the ram rod would not go down the barrel. Didn`t know a thing about them. Barrel is terribly pitted with some actual spots where the rifling is gone
It gets abut 4 - 6 inch Groups from the bench at 100 with minie balls. I`m not sure that it could get better.
Clean it then shoot it and see what you get.
 
If it is not in the last 4-5 inches of the barrel I personally would not worry. I have had a Thompson Encore for over 20 years now and from the breach plug up about 6-7 inches the pitting is what I would consider ugly and then some. I showed an old boy and he laughed and said you would be shocked what hammer gun barrels look like.

I have shot this gun lots and it has been loaned to friends to hunt. It has always been properly cleaned and much of the blame is probably mine as I think I am shooting a little hotter than most. Small rifle primer, 100grn loose fffg T7, 195grn PR bullet. Fast and flat for a inline and still accurate as hell out to 200 and probably more if I had the nerve and practice.

Bottom line is I doubt it will make a difference but shooting it will be the proof.
 
Any barrel from a custom maker and installation would be worth more than the gun. You can go to Traditions web site and contact them about their service person here and ask what a barrel is worth. If it is not major pitting , give it a good cleaning and shoot. Make sure to clean after each shooting session .
