Well i finally got my reloading bench goig, and this is the first time i've used a powder thrower. I spent 4 hours with the thing and i couldn't throw within 3/4 grain. I tried to make sure i used the same stroke all the time, i tried the double bump, but i couldn't get it to stay close. Any ideas as to how to fix my problem? It's an RCBS uniflowpowder measure, and i'm using imr 4350.

IMR 4350 is pretty coarse. I usually set my thrower to be just under the charge weight that I want, then use a powder trickler to get the exact weight.

Like Dan said, you will get more exact charges with ball powder or the SC (short cut) powders available now.

I found That a Lee Powder measure throws much more consistent charges with the coarse powders like IMR 4350 and old H4831 than the RCBS unit does. I have graduated to the RCBS Charge Master Combo....that solves the problem, regardless of powder type. Regards, Eagleye

Pull the handle down, then tap the side of the powder dispensor (say 5 times) to loosen any stuck grains. Get into a rhythm and be consistent. You will see a more consistent charge.

I also set it up to be 1/2 grain or so less, then "trickle" the rest in.
