Help with pricing WWII rifles

My grandfather passed recently and since I was the only one in the family with a PAL I inherited his small collection of WWII rifles. I was wondering if anyone would help give me an idea of how much these might be worth today since I only ever had shotguns for hunting and .22’s so I’m a bit out of my depth. I plan on keeping these for now but curiosity has me wondering how much they would sell for and wondering if I should get insurance on any of these.

Here are the rifles I am looking at, they are all in pretty good shape with matching serials.

Mosin M44 (some rust on bolt and top of action, only one with non matching serials)
Mosin M91 with bayonet (friend told me to say it isn’t a hex)
Swiss K31
K98 (matching serials but no disc in the stock)
SVT40
SKS (I know it isn’t WWII but it’s in the collection)

Any help would be appreciated!

condition adds a lot of give and take but an estimate would be

m44-$350-450
k31-650-750
k98 (a lot can effect the value of these)- 600-1000
svt40-550
sks-200

that's a great set to inherit, you should load up on ammo for them while its relatively cheap and available

Hey CP - can you give me an indication how you came up with the SKS number?

Only the SKS as I don't own examples of the others. I paid $180 for a mismatched SKS 3 years ago so a $200 shot in the dark with no other info is low in my opinion.

Cool, thanks! Any idea how much the M91 is worth? I remember them being dirt cheap but that was like 7 years ago

Or ,maybe a lot more if it happened to be original, matching. Impossible to say without seeing photos. Note that refurbed Mosins are matching but not original. Do you have any idea how long ago your grandfather acquired these rifles?

Maybe the community agreed value, but you could easily sell some of those for a little higher... if anyone has a matching K98 they’d like to sell for 600-1000 please do shoot me a pm, I’d love to get that kind of deal. All matching I’d imagine to be a little higher. SKSs have also been selling for much higher lately, though at the same time lots still get sold for 180-220. Almost as important as matching is if it’s been refurbished or not. All matching non refurbs in good good condition can sell for higher prices.

SKS - Russian? Chinese? Albanian? North Korean? SKS-D? There's a lot of variation even within those variations - an unrefurbed early Russian is worth a good bit more than a late refurb, and an Albanian in crap condition is worth a lot more than a mint early Russian, a North Korean is worth what you want to ask.

It's quite a rifle collection to inherit. Would be a shame to sell it off if I were you I'd maintain them and wait a few more years they will gain value better than most blue chip stocks. Also they can be fun to shoot. Load up in whatever ammonyou can get if you plan house them.

Do these look like they would be valued on the higher end? As far as I know they are original though the M44 seems to have been refinished

Nice collection!

Check out what the dealers are selling those for (some in worse condition) and go from there.

If you don't need the money I would wait like others are suggesting.

Nice looking rifles. I would say they are on the higher end.
Mosin M44: $400
Mosin: $200. Great condition, but a run of the mill war time mosin.
Swiss K31: $700? I haven't seen many of these lately.
K98 1000? Not my expertise.
SVT40 $750-800. It's not tula, so not the most common. Not rare though.
SKS $180-300. need pictures.

The k98 is some sort or post war refurb. $400-800 is my guess.
Without better pics I can’t say by who but it’s Reblued, wrong front band, wrong stock and likely post war stock.
