Help with scope choice!

Forget about Burris.

I have both Leupolds and Elites. If you want to keep to you budget of $250, Elite 3200 gives you the best value. If you can afford the extra bucks, go with the VX-11. Quality wise they are very close.

The longer eye relief on the VX-11 is a plus to some people. I have my Elites on 300WM and 45/70 and never gave me any problem.

Rainguard is a great feature for hunting. I tried that out in rain and hail. I works.

I've got a Fullfield II and have not had any problems with it. I like them. I've also got a Signature 3-9x and it lives on my 300 with no problems whatsoever.

I have a Burris Fullfield II with Bal Plex and so far I like it. I also have a couple 3200's and I would say both are on par with each other. But like others have said, if you can afford it, go Leupold. I'm not sure about Burris, but you can't beat Leupold's 'no questions asked' warranty.

:D

I have owned and used them all and buy nothing but Leupold now ... I must agree with Bartell... go with the Leupold VXII. The VXII is the superior scope in every way to the Fullfield II or the Elite 3200.

^^^^^ hasnt used a Mueller high end scope yet 1/2 the price and just as good as any leupold imo :)

probably wont be using one anytime soon ;)

I dont believe a $200 scope could be better than a lifetime warranty Leupold VXII :)

well for the same price a guy can get a VXII Leupold, and its pretty damn tough to improve on that.

if a Mueller is 50% of the price of a Leupold of high quality, then it should be sold at $200. The difference between a VXII and a VXIII ($500-700) isnt really worth the extra cost.

Lets not get the VXII mixed up with the older Vari X II either :) there is noticeable differences between the two

If you buy a Leupold from the states without going thru the Canadian distributer you have NO WARRANTY and it will not be repaired in Canada.
Just a note.
You might want to also check U.S. Regulations for shipping optics out of the states. Unless it is shipped with an export permit, It is not allowed!!! Just because the shipper doesn't know the rules does not make it legal.

oh really??

how the hell did my Ebay bought Leupold from Idaho get a new reticle in Okotoks ALberta then?

Interesting, I'll ask Terry about this when I see him next. Never the less, the shipper broke U.S. law, by sending the scope and not obtaining an export permit for it! Big time pee pee wacking if caught!!

have to agree with bartell have seen a pile of ebay boughten scopes from the USA and a few that needed repair got them fixed here , and no more talk about you wacking yer peepee thats just wrong  :D

Today I had a chat with a rep from Leupold Canada. If you have any work done on these imported scopes then you will pay, crosshair change ect. but no warranty work will be performed on these "Grey market scopes".
By importing these scopes, or more correctly by the shipper exporting them without the proper export permits in place, a criminal act is being committed and if caught it very well could mean prison and or a very heavy fine!! Check with Brownells or any of the other big exporters, Gun Parts Corp, they will not ship some items at all due to this requirement. As I said before, just because it has been done does not make it legal nor does not knowing the actual regulations make you immune to the law and it's punishments!! Please be carefull.

so, how does Canada's Leupold warranty *know* where I bought my scope?

Simple, take a look at the bottom of the scope, there is a serial # there!
Korth keeps track of each and every scope he imports, he has to to get the Export licence. You send him your scope for warranty repair, he looks up the #, not on his list you get it back, or you get a bill for the repairs.
Again, I'm only trying to make sure no one gets it trouble.

I guess he didnt look too close at the two scopes he fixed for me in April, as both came from Stateside, and fixed with no bill in ALberta  :)
