This relates to muzzleloaders however their doesn't seem to be a lot of action in that section and I think it can apply here.

We were sighting in our ML's today.

One guy with new gun and scope set it to be 3 inches high at 50 yards. At 100 yards he is now 6" high and off the paper. Why would this be?

What bullet, what powder and how much? Sounds like your bullet is still rising at 50 yds, try zero at fifty, and check at 100. Do you have a ballistics chart for that bullet, if so what does it say? Is barrel dirty or just cleaned, sometimes shoots better out of fouled barrel.

I shoot a TC triumph with 100 gr 777, and 250 shockwave. I have it zeroed at 100, 2" high at 50, and 3" low at 175m

I have the same gun and with 100 grains of powder mine also hits low at 50 if it is set right on at 100. I set mine at 1 inch hi at 100 yards and so far I'm happy with that for any hunting I've done.

The scope sits about 1.5 inches above the center line of the bore... this causes it to shoot very high if you sight it in to be high at short ranges...

Use a bigger target at 100 yards and don't bother shooting it at shorter ranges...

At what ranges will you be hunting. Where I hunt, I will never get a shot past 150 yards simply due to the terrain and foiliage (during muzzleloader season). I generally sight mine in 2" high at 100 yards which is about zeroed at 50. I am using iron sights. If you are using a scope, you want to be a little LOWER at 50. With the iron sights I am using, I can easily get out to 150 yards with just a little hold over.

Sight in at 100 and live happily ever after. If you are 1-2 inches high at 100 with that load, then any deer within 150 or so is toast. Try to keep it at 100 or less when you shoot but if you are off on your range estimation this sight in will allow you to stretch a bit and still make center hits.

I have a muzzleloading related sighting issue also. At 30yds I cannot lower my front sight far enough to hit dead center, it is shooting wayyyyy too high. I use pyrodex charges and I have tried using both 1 and 2 pucks. Any suggestions?
