Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any idea of the value of a Swedish M41 Sniper Rifle (6.5 X 55)?

This is a model M41, NOT the M41B.

It is unmolested and still retains some packing grease.

The rifle (Model 96) was manufactured in 1918 and converted to the M41 in the early 1940's.
The rifle is 100% matching numbers.

The scope mount is the German made Jackenroll and is all matching numbers (mount, base, ring lowers and ring caps).

The scope in an AGA 42 (3X) and has clear optics.

The three digit Scope number differs from the rifle by 2.
The three digit scope mount differs from the rifle by 10.
It is my understanding that the Swedish did not match scope mount and rifle numbers, but coincidentally these numbers are all close.

The stock disk indicates a bore condition of 1 (Very good) and a bore diameter of 6.51mm.

I suspect that this was one of the early imports of the early 1960's since there are no import markings.
I don't think this rifle has ever been fired since importation. Overall in very good condition with only minor handling marks.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards!

Hi Gordon,

Actually I own the rifle. I am toying with the idea of selling it.

The previous owner had it for over 45 years, so it is neither a recent import nor fabricated from parts (Sarco).

It has the AGA 42 (Swedish) scope rather than the AJACK (German) scope.

From what information I have, it looks correct and unmolested.

Prices these days seem all over the map, so I was seeking some advice before I do anything with it.

Hi AGB-1

Landsborough Auctions (here in Ontario) had one that sold in March 2017 for $3,700. Recently Switzer's Auction had one that sold for $1,700 which I thought would be disappointing for the seller (after 25% commission). I am in no hurry to do anything. Auction's are at times very unpredictable. You never know how you will do. I may do as you suggest and wait a while. Thanks!
