I have a Lee Enfield Fazakerlay No 4 Mk 2 Ser. PF3369XX. The rifle is still in the wrap & only tore open enough to read the serial. Also with it is a No 9 Mk 1 bayonet & scabbord also in wrap.

Also have a Lee Enfield Fazakerlay No 4 Mk 2 Ser. PF3407XX. This rifle has been cleaned up but possibly never fired - it is "as new" or as close to it as is possible. Has with it a No 9 Mk 1 bayonet & scabbord.

These are the Irish Contract rifles that never made it to Ireland.

I'm thinking of selling one or possibly both and would like an indication of what their values are. If anyone can offer some insight I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks
Ron

Seems to be around the $800 mark.

From what I have seen, the in wrap one would go from $800-$1000, depending on who wants it, I have seen one for sale for $1350.

The unwrapped one, probably between $700-$800, once again, depending on who asks.

I am thinking more like $700 shipped. There is a like new #5 JC on the EE for $750 Shipped with a original bayonet. That would be much more desirable IMO

Have seen a couple un-wrapped ones for $600-650 recently. Personally I'd rather spend that money on a mint LB or Savage. They are out there if you look.

wrapped c/w bayonet $800 ish

Unwrapped c/w bayonet $600 - $700 Top

Issued c/w a few dings & bayonet $ 450

Issued w/ dark wood $350

I canot get over how fast these are climbing in cost.

You are correct when you say that these are the so called Irish Contract rifles - rifles that fall within serial numbers PF309348 - PF359347 - as such many are unissued but the flip side is that they don't have much historical interest. My estimate for a top end ( in the wrap with bayonet ) would be $800. Once it is unwrapped I estimate $650 with bayonet and $600 without.

Yes and no. Technically, the Irish rifles are the epitome of the No.4 .303 evolution. No4 Mk II with beech timber, and unused. These rifles were in storage throughout the period when other No.4s were being smacked around on parade squares, thrown into trucks, carried in battle and otherwise 'used'. In a collector's market where condition is everything, new in the wrap doesn't get any better. (The flip side is in a market where dates and arsenal markings have an irrational value, these guns have much less importance.) The fact that these ones sat out the war, shouldn't be held against them. Ireland has been determinedly neutral since its independance from Britain.
