Purchased one of these scopes to mount on my Interarms Mark X in 7mm mag instead of a traditional 3-9x40 as it seemed to have all of what I wanted in a scope such as target turrets, bdc recticle and I wanted the high magnification so I wouldnt need a spotting scope or to walk to my target to see where I hit at longer range. Needless to say i really was impressed by the look, quality, optics, features, etc of this unit, even like it better than a Bushnell Elite 4200 i had on a 300 win mag I regret having parted with but what gets me is that even with the elevation topped out, it shoots 24 inches low at 50 meters. At first I figured it could be my mounts or maybe the gun as it looks like its been worked on and the barrel is maked McCowan barrel or Mcgowan barrel so i'm guessing its an aftermarket barrel but may be wrong. I will point out that I just purchased the gun without a scope and then bought this scope and went to the range. Once i discovered this problem i went to a friend who has a boresighter and sure enough my crosshairs were below te grid of the boresighter, the elevation did move the crosshairs but beeing topped out could only make it worse turning it down. I have not tried the scope on any other of my rifles but I tried another scope on the rifle using same mounts and rings (an old weaver tv view 4x) with the boresighter and everything seemed ok with this scope but I didnt shoot it, went to my sporting good shop and told him this story. We both assumed I got unlucky and got a defective scope so he ordered a new one which I got earlier this week, went to the range today and to my horror it shoots just as low. I'm not totally new with guns but not an expert either and before I try returning this one too, i figured i'd check with you guys. Should I buy adjustable mounts ? Any suggestions? Will try the scope on a different gun this weekend if i get the chance.

The only adjustable mount that are available are the Burris these mount's use a insert that allows you to angle the scope up or down .How ever reading the Technical data sheet for your scope you have 25 MOA of adjustment if the scope is properly centered from the factory this number will mean you have 12.5 MOA which equates to 12.5 inches of adjustment @ 100 yards this scope features a 1/8 minute adjustment meaning 8 clicks per 1"of POI shift

that's what i seen on the specifications too, but being 24 inches low at 50 meters at max elevation would also mean close to 48 inches low at 100 m then re-centering the elevation I would be 60.5" low at this 100 m meter if my understanding of moa is correct? how do you suggest i fix this? is this normal on some rifles? should I bring it to a smith and get the mounts shimmed and the rings lapped? why am i only getting this problem with this scope and seems that if i put on another scope all is fine? is it just that the other scope has more moa of adjustment ?

The Burris Posi Align Rings will get you a 20 moa adjustment at 100m check out the link this should help

you may wish to have a gunsmith chech out your rifle to ensure everything is proper it might be an issue with the Scope bases. As well your scope is limited on the MOA of adjustment as far as other scopes hard to tell

thanks, i checked it out along with the video, wonder if it could fix my problem. seeing my windage is fine, could it be a problem with the gun itself? say if the barrel was replaced which i dunno if was or not. hate to dump money in it if it dont shoot right

I'm just hoping to see something about the base or rings that would explain this. I was thinking that if the scope base was installed backward, it would explain the problem, but then you said you get good results with the old scope, which threw that idea out the window. It's quite the mystery.
I clicked on this thread because I have the Vortex Viper, and I'm quite happy with it, so I hate to see someone having problems with their Vortex scope.
