I have a Remington 887 nitro mag with a 3 and 1/2 in chamber that I have two barrels for a 28 and an 18 and a half inch barrel. Or I hunt in Florida my longest shot might be 40 or 50 yards so a slug is not unheard of and therefore I load my own thoughts. My go to load is a one ounce saw with 44 grains of Blue Dot and it is a amazing load perfect. Now that there's a shortage of alliant products I need a substitute that's equitable to Blue dot. Please somebody help me cuz I really want to continue loading my own shells.

I did try to show you a picture of my 887 with his bandolier full of shells but it wouldn't let me. I'm not trying to like do whatever they call trolling I'm just a southern hunter that really needs help about a substitution load for my blue dot shotgun powder.
 
Hogdon Longshot and Hogdon HS-6 are close to Alliant BlueDot ...... but not a direct substitute.

You will have to build a new load.

Question: Why are you using BlueDot for a 1oz slug? It would seem there are better powders out there for a 1oz payload than BlueDot.

Well sir I experimented with a lot of loads and I found that 44 grains of Blue Dot is the highest velocity most accurate load I can find with a 1 oz to 1 and 1/8 Oz Foster slug

There may very well be better patterns out there sir but I just became accustomed to using 44 grains of blue dot after development on a one-out slug and that gets me the highest velocity and is the most accurate load I could come up with
