What Is The Difference Between .45 Acp And .45 G.a.p? I Have A .45 Acp And Am About To Get A Glock 37 In .45gap. And Would Like To Know The Difference. Thanks
The .45 G.A.P. (often called the .45 GAP) pistol cartridge was designed by Ernest Durham, an engineer with CCI/Speer, at the request of firearms manufacturer Glock to provide a cartridge that would equal the power of the .45 ACP but was shorter to fit in a more compact handgun, and with a stronger case head to reduce the possibility of case neck blowouts. G.A.P. is an acronym for "Glock Automatic Pistol", and the .45 G.A.P. is the first commercially-introduced cartridge identified with Glock
That means it is a shorter version of the 45 Auto about the same performance and more expensive...if you can find it...
To add, the purpose of the shorter 45 GAP was so that Glock could make the frame of the 37 just a little bit smaller.
Make sure you can buy 45 GAP at your favorite store, and be willing to pay the price. (Hint, they make it, but you don't often see cheap "white box" 45 GAP in Canada)
well, i am not buying a .45 gap, my friend who is getting rid of all of her firearms due to cancer, is giving me a glock 37 in .45gap as well as a couple of other pistols. so i was just wondering as to what i was getting myself into by taking her offered pistols/rifles. thanks guys. appreciate the help.
