The family that shoots together, stays together. Make shooting a family thing, not just something to do with your buds on saturday/sunday. Make it simple and fun. Don't give her or the kiddies a 12ga or large bore centre fire rifle to shoot first time. Work into it with 22rf and if possible work up from there to get them interested and used to recoil. Keep the first sessions short and leave the booze at home. Not implying that you drink and shoot by the way but for those that do.
There is also the problem of food, rent, utilities, car payments etc., all of the little bits of crab grass in the lawn of life. Family and their combined needs come first. If you can squirrel a bit away for yourself, more power to you.
