I the henry survival rifle worth it as a survival rifle? I know they make a poor plinker but how many rounds does a barrel last? and is there other problems besides the barrels wearing out?

As a compact, light weight, unobtrusive survival rifle, they're fine. As a high volume target gun, don't bother. Get a 10/22 or one of the others.

Maybe look at the 10/22 takedown also. A bit bigger, but in general alot better.

I've had my Henry version for years, it's older all black and only 1 spare mag. I'll let you know how long the barrel lasts in a decade or so, I've only got 12,000 rounds or so through mine so far. LOL. PS, runs like a top and eats all brands of ammo.

P.s.s. they are not dry fire friendly at all, count your rounds as you shoot or you'll be cleaning up the chamber face often.
