Yes! I agree it is almost like putting a Rear Spoiler on a Ford Escort! But my friend insists on wanting a scope mounted on this beautiful little gun! The accuracy is certainly not an issue. Can anyone please tell me where this might be sourced in or around Calgary??

All the big dealers will sell you the gun but not the parts..

The GB has a rather extreme drop angle on the shoulder stock. It's deep enough that for some of us it turns a high cheek weld into a chin weld. Raising the sighting line with a scope sounds like it would become all but unworkable unless he shoots it mostly from a benched position.

Bottom line? I'd suggest that he would be FAR better off to sell the GB and use the money to buy either the basic H001 or perhaps an H002 Frontier if he wants the octagonal barrel. But either has a higher comb and shallower shoulder stock angle along with an easy to use dovetail rail on the top of the receiver. And best of all the money from the GB sale would buy most of the rifle and a fairly decent scope.

My son mounted a Leupold VX-2 3-9 ultralight on the Henry cantilever mount on his GB and cheek weld has been no problem... but I agree if he really wants to shoot it scoped, then a Frontier with the grooved receiver is a better way to go... I shoot all of my Henry's with Skinner peeps and either the Lyman AUG17 globe (rimfire) or a Williams Fire Sight ramp (centefire).

An old school rifle needs an old school scope... If you hunt around, you can get a classic Unertl for somewhere around $1K, at least it would look right...

Phoned Cabella's (currently out of stock) and Wholesale Sports have been promising me one for 5 weeks now. Neither one have come through. They love to sell the guns but struggle when it comes to supplying specific parts for them!!

I agree raising the siting line may become an issue between cheek and chin placement....but my buddy is unconvinced anything else will do! (big head, big face...likely not an issue)

I have already purchased the VX-2 scope and only have to find SOMEONE in Canada who wishes to sell me the mount to finish this project!! My e-mail to Henry Repeating Arms remains unanswered but a phone call to them yesterday suggested the same two suppliers listed above with no other suggestions for sourcing. If this was a RUGER firearm I am certain the support would be far better.

I will keep hammering suppliers until this proprietary scope mount is found!

Very Nice!

I have an Old P14 that is similar.

I wish I had that rifle... That's a lift from the web, not mine.

One of these days I'm going to save up for a Unertl... They look awesome on the 1903 Springfield. Something very "right" about those old school scopes and the 1903, Lever rifles, or the old falling block.

Sadly, no solutions given from Henry and both Cabella's and Wholesale Sports have no stock with no promised delivery dates.

So far whole sale sports not returning calls....guess I will have to make the two hour drive again and give it back. :(

I had this set aside as a gift for a family member for the start of gopher season this year....about a month past now!

Any recommendations of a dealer who wishes to sell a nice lever action rim fire with a scope? I don't mind paying a little more when they stand behind what they sell?

Old fashioned service for an "Old Fashioned Guy"!!

If your "two hour drive" puts you in Calgary, stop by ProLine, they'll have your back. Drop by before you turn in the Henry, take it in to them. If they have the right stuff, they'll mount it for you at no extra cost.

They're an old school gun shop, with old school service.
