Henry golden boy vs. browning bl-22

I had both the BL22 and H001 at one time. Sold the BL22 and kept the H001. As mentioned above, the short throw of the BL22 is offset by the rough/tough throw. The Zamac reciever of the H001 has an ugly finish, but is functionally sound. The throw is smooth and in my opinion the trigger is better on the H001 as well.

I had a chance to try a browning out beside 2 Henry's one day, one was a golden boy the other was a heavy octagonal barrel job.

I preferred the browning because of the fit and finish and the short throw lever.
My dad was there as well and he preferred the Henry so much so he went and picked one up.

Both are fantastic guns, me I just preferred to cycle the gun with a quick flick of my hand, having to use my whole arm for the Henry was not my cup of tea.

I have owned both(and the marlin and winchester also) and I would pick the browning over the henry. I found the accuracy comparable but the fit and finish of the henry compared to the browning was lacking and the browning felt sturdier to me. It was fun to cycle fast. I liked the tube mag on the browning better also.

I have to agree with Hoytcannon, as nice as the Browning are, I feel that for me personally, the short cycle is a deterrent rather than a desirable feature. For me, lever action is probably the manual action I enjoy most and I feel that the short flick of my fingers on a BL just doesn't quite sate my desire to fully cycle a lever action.
