Henry H001 accuracy any good?

I purchased the 22mag - Varmint henry. Took it to the range and with the first 10 rounds the gun jammed up. The action will no longer close. Took it back where I purchased it and they told me they will replace it for me. That was 2 weeks ago. Aaarrrggggg. I am hoping that when and if I get my replacement it will live up to its reputation as one of the best 22 rifles out there. This waiting is killing me . Oh well off to the range take out some frustrations on some tin cans....

Well I picked up my. Henry 22 mag today , and went straight to the range. Wow 1 inch groups at 100 yards right outa the box . This is just a fantastic gun , looks great feels good on your hands has that rugged old west feel about it. Put a couple hundred rounds down range I honestly did not want to put it away . Going to take her up the mountain tomorrow see how it feels to pack it around with me. This is going to cost me 10.00 per 50 rounds oh well lots of fun.... :sniper:

I can't tell you how many rounds I've put through my Frontier since April, but a rough guess would be over a 2000. I blame that little rifle for making me forget to bring the other toys out to play.

If you're concerned about accuracy, don't be. I jokingly set up a stripper clip and spent casing from my sks at roughly 40 yards. I hit the stripper clip the first round as well as the casing. I am convinced the gun is somehow magical as I don't feel I shoot that well with open sights standing unsupported.

My only complaint is it can jam if you work the action very slowly with the rifle tilted over to view the port. That said I can't say I've ever had a fail to fire. I've had a few ones that go pop instead of bang, but after checking the bore they do leave the gun. Every other .22 I have will occasionally require a second strike. I attribute it to the Henry having a wide firing pin resulting in less chance of hitting an area without primer.

If anyone is reading this wondering if they should get one, well don't wonder. Get one and enjoy the heck out of it like those of us who already own one.

Pics or it didn't happen... LOL... Here is mine...

15 rounds at 50 yards with a cheapy Simmons scope (resting).. One of the best gun purchases I have ever made..

I love my Henry with the John Wayne lever! LOL!
I went to Canadian Tire and picked up a $50.00 Center Point scope. Unbeknownest to me, on the Henry site, from what I understand, that's the recommended scope for this rifle!
Action is sweet and shoots very well, ruffed grouse dinners don't lie! LOL!

I had that problem also with the WMR. They sent me a new mag tube and it fixed it, sort of. I still get some that won't chamber, Winchester ammo but CCI ammo is butter smooth. I checked the cartridge length of Win. ammo and it's not always the same. CCI is. The worst was a box of $15 Winchester Supreme, I had 3 FTF with these, none with the $10 Dynapoints. In any case I love these guns and Henry really stands behind their product, I received the tube from them in N.J. in a week.
