Henry H001 safety??

Why don't your just tell me I'm an idiot already? Yes the safety was my error, never denied it. But trust me te harder i cycle it the harder it jams and mangles the bullet... I've done a lot of research and I already knew to cycle vigorously...

Okay, cool. Didn't mean to be insulting - there was no tone written into my post.

Mine has no issues with cycling the hollow points. I simply operate the lever vigorously as per the manual and all is well. I have a video of me cycling through the entire 14 round magazine in less than 5 seconds. I pull the trigger just as the lever closes and you can easily shoot 14 rounds aimed on target in less than 5 seconds. It's just a matter of practice and repetition. Obviously, this rifle functions correctly.

As to why yours isn't, I'm not sure without being able to see it.

I've cycled the following ammo through mine without problems:

Winchester Wildcat
Federal MATCH
Federal Blue Box Bulk (hp)
winchester bushman (hp)
CCI Minimag (hp)
CCI Standard Velocity
Winchester 555/333 (hp)

and a few others I can't think of.

No problems when operating the bolt with conviction.

Hope that helps!

P.S. I could email you that video if you'd like to see how I operate the lever...

Relax target guy,
Just in case you didn't realize cycling it firmly is most important on the downward stroke making sure that it goes all the way to the end of the travel...sometimes this is where people short stroke it a bit.

The henrys are pretty smooth and shouldn't need much force but you need to complete the stroke completely before closing the action.

First time I handled a henry I thought it was missing the half #### as well.... I finally slowly dropped the hammer on an empty chamber with my finger on the trigger and saw what was happening.

Thank you for your help, I thought I was completing the full stroke, but I will make it a point to try this on future outings :)

Only reason I mentioned the HP vs RN was seeing a few places on line that people have said they stick to round nose ammo because of this issue, maybe not in all of these rifles this happens, was just the only thing I could think.

I tried winchester 333's which are HP and they worked at first but started to jam up, switched to CCI mini mag RN and it worked fine. I only brought those two loads out today cause I thought the henry would eat the 333 and my other rifle I had out has a preferance to the mini mags. I will try other ammos on hand next outing, in the meantime I am going to take it apart and clean it up. Thanks again for all input thus far. :)

Sometimes while the wife is shooting the Henry with hollow points
she will get a jam ( bullet pointed upward in the receiver )
It never happens for me , I think she cycles too slowly.
My Henry eats everything for me , even the duds that my
Marlin 795 won't fire.

If you read the manual, they actually tell you to not take it apart and clean it. Just run some patches through the barrel. Or use a boresnake as I do with mine. The feed issues you have with hollow point ammo, is it the first round you try to fire after loading or is it mid tube? If it's the first one, you cannot load it with the lever open as it will destroy the round and jam like a ba5tard. It will bend the bullet right out of the casing and fill the action full of powder.

All I did was pull the cover off, cleaned up the bolt and whatever was accessible and oiled it and back together it went. Done already actually. Haha

But the failures are happening randomly. Mid tube, beginning tube, end tube, all the same lol
I'm hoping its just me cycling it improperly.

Mine doesn't like Winchester 333, bullets do get stuck in the receiver once in a while, other more 'rounded' nose HP are fine.
