One of my Homesteaders started to double fire- Press the trigger and a round fired then when the trigger was released another round would fire. It looked like this:
The trigger assembly is held in a little cassette so I popped out the pin that held it into the lower and played around with it a bit. Turns out there are two small springs that rock the assembly back and forth and one of the springs was broken so it wasn't catching the hammer when it returned. I dug around in my spring collection, found one close enough and cut it to length. I have big fingers so tiny springs are not my favorite things but I managed to install the replacement. Test dry fired it and it seemed ok so then took it out into the yard and live tested it. All seems good. I'm going to see if I can get Henry (or whoever does Canada warranty) to send me the proper replacement spring.
