Henry Homesteader. New 9mm Semi-Auto PCC

Wish someone would offer a pcc in 10mm. Even 40s&w. Just something other than 9mm

A google search should lead you to some 10MM guns. My buddy down in Idaho has one in 10MM with a brace on it. It now is considered a short barreled rifle now due to a change in classification by the ATF and Legislation. I forget the make now. Next time I speak to him I'll get it for you. 40cal and 10MM are a lot more expensive to shoot which likely is one reason why you don't see a rush to amke them.

Yup I know, so you might have said "$869.99 USD". This is a Canadian site and some may think you were quoting in cdn dollars. Just saying.

Not a lot of NR options in Canada, but they exist: JR Carbine, TNW ASR and Kriss Vector are all available in 40 S&W, 10mm and 45ACP.

And the KelTec Sub2000 also comes in 40 S&W.

And Hi Point! Lol

Edit - I haven't seen a 40sw NR one but I did see NR 45acp Hi Points recently.

You're right, we shouldn't write these off. They have a surprisingly strong reputation. I've only ever seen them in 9mm and 45ACP in Canada though.

And the magazine situation for them is a bummer, if I'm not mistaken.

For the 9mm ones particularly, yeah, 5 rd mags because they are rifle mags. The 45acp and 40sw versions get full cap mags, (9 and 10 rounds respectively) because they're the same mag as the pistols but the 9mm pistol and carbine use different mags (and even if they didn't, the 9mm pistol is prohib so they'd still call them rifle mags).

For some reason some 40 and 45 carbines come with 5 round mags, not sure why though.

Not sure 9mm would be safe in a tube magazine, maybe too pointy?

Now that they have Henry 9mm magazines they could make a lever gun that uses those... that would be neat... I'm not sure the recoil from a 9mm would be enough to set off a chain reaction in a tube, but there are flat tipped 9mm (a lot of the 147gr stuff for example) so even if they did a tube magazine AND pointy 9mm is a hazard there are options.

Sorry, I meant to say we shouldn't write the HiPoint off. Good luck finding the pistol mags for them, though, eh?

A lever gun with a pistol mag sticking out, just the thought of it makes me nauseous! I don't think they'd risk the lawsuits with 9mm in a tube mag - Isn't part of the risk from dropping it on the muzzle? Also, I bet it would be much more difficult (and expensive) to design and produce a carbine that would feed 9mm reliably from a tube. It would be cool, but I don't think the market is there to make it worthwhile. They'll probably quickly sell all of these Homesteaders they can possibly make, there's not much incentive to innovate.
