Henry Homesteader

I think 45 will come. 10mm not to sure bout that
^45ACP would be worth waiting for.

I also think for the old fashioned types like me....if the Henry was available at the same time as the Rugers were, allot of us wouldn't have bought Rugers. I think the Henry is a very handsome rifle, and to me...basically none of the Rugers are. The Rugers chug along great/I like them, but like the looks of the Henry more. And that's strange coming from me, I don't particularly like the Henry rimfires. I've owned one in the past, shot 2-3 others. That glossy/aluminum (pot metal?) receiver is a bit of a deal breaker for me, but the guns work great/feel good. Well, the levers did, the pump not so much.

If they are relying on the 'counter weight/reciprocating mass' that resides under the barrel as opposed to the bolt for proper blow back operation, it would be easier for Henry to come to market with other calibers like 45acp or 10mm. I presume this is the whole reasoning that they did this design the way they did.
If either of those calibers come to market, I'm definitely in on one.

Did you watch the video someone posted?

I ordered a Ruger PC 9 instead, looks like a much better gun.
Yup, teardown seems like a pain.

I haven't figured out the advantage of the Henry over the currently avaliable 9mm NR rifles.

I'm leaning towards a
tnw aero if I can find one.

They seem to be scarce.

The only advantage I can see is the henry looks good, and it might be the only PCC with wood furniture.

i sure did. and have taken mine apart allready to change the mag housing. i guess your idea of horribly complicated pushing three pins and one screw out and my idea of horribly complicated are a long long ways apart

this is far from complicated

I might have exaggerated when I said “horribly complicated”,
However a straight blow back pistol caliber, semi auto carbine gets filthy rather quickly and needs frequent cleaning.

The way the homesteader breaks down for cleaning is a royal pain in the a*s, and I would absolutely hate it.

I can't comment on reliability, but I handled one yesterday for the first time at my local store, and was immediately impressed with its feel, super solid feel, and felt good in the hands, pointed well. I am surprised there have not been any comments regarding the homesteader on CGN.
That's funny because the one I handled yesterday felt pretty crappy. I mean it shoulders and points well but the forestock was loose and rattled in my hands. May just be a one of thing but would live to hear from others.

I discovered that my homesteader had a crack in the stock by the tang.

I emailed Henry and they’re sending out a new stock.

Pretty good service.

They have been known to send some pretty pieces of wood in cases like this, hope you get something really nice!
