Henry Lever 22

Ok now Im curious. I will have to pull the sideplate off and have a looksee myself. Still it sure is a slick little bugger and shoots real well. Excellent irons on this one.

Ain't no side plate 2 screws on either side of reciever and one screw on the
tang, and reciever cover lifts off. Maybe we are talking different rifles,
I'M talking about the 22LR Golden Boy.

Kinda hard to mistake the Golden Boy. There are several models but this one is the 22lr version. Have had a closer look and it is indeed a 5 screw thing. I was looking at replacable side plates for the rifle on the Henry site and they show as separate plates with 2 holes in them so that is where I got the impression. Looks like sides and top are all one chunk of metal. Guess I will just have to go and take it apart now. Still its really purdy and I wouldnt want to goof any screw heads up.

Well its been apart and back together and I dont see no stinking plastic in there either. However I did find a way to clean thru the chamber and the bolt comes out too. Not as slick as the Marlin 39A but still easy to do. Took a little fiddling to get it back together once you figure out the bolt has to be on top of the mech and not in the shroud. Dont look cheap to me and found an easy way to get the crap out of the mech. Guess I will have to go back to the Henry site and take a closer look at what I was looking at. Guess I will have to get around to putting in the glove lever sometime soon too.
