Hello,
I went out today and tested the 22 mag TNT load today with my Henry lever. I prefer the TNT's for gophers since it seems to really tear them up.
I must admit, I love how smooth this gun is and the trigger is light enough for my liking.
Anyways, I setup with a lead sled and did a couple of 3 round groups at 100 yards. All the groups were nice. They all hovered around 1.5 inches.
The other day I read an article about the true accuracy of a rifle. In this article it mentions that you don't see the true accuracy with only 3 shot groups. I totally agreed with the arguement and in the past I have done with my other rifles, 5 or 10 round groups, if time permits. I decided today was the day to find out what this little henry will do.

Wow, it sure opens ones eyes and definitely tells a different picture. I don't consider this a bad group since this is with 12 rounds and I shot the group fairly fast. I didn't let the barrel cool down between shots. I am also thinking the group is nice and round with no indication of shot stringing.
I am going to try other brands of ammo to see if the group would shrink more. If anyone else has a Henry 22mag please let me know what it likes to eat.

I had a Golden Boy in .22mag. Very accurate rifles. I tried different loads but didn't seem to make a difference. Thinking of getting another but not the Golden Boy, pricey and won't shoot any better. Shouda kept it, but needed the $ at the time. Only thing was it woudn't chamber the last rd. Spring maybe?, never found out.
