Need some help on how to secure my brand new Henry Lever Action .22. The trigger lock simply falls off when the lever is opened! Is there some kind of device that secures the lever closed?

Grab yourself a cable lock. Be aware that some have softer coatings than others.

You can either go around the lever and stock to keep the action closed, or you can put the lever down and run the cable through the action so that it cannot close.

Or there's these: "Winchester Lock 94 92 73 1894 1892 1873 95 Marlin Henry Gun Lever Action Rifle Lock." I use several on my Henrys to be compliant. It takes a minute to unscrew the "lock" with the provided special "key," but will not mar the stock. (I refinish my Henry stocks.) They do not also lock the hammer in addition to the lever as claimed, as they slide down the Henry grip. A good solution at US $5.50 for the lever locking problem.

Thanks very much for both suggestions! I'll look into the Winchester lock for sure. I thought about a cable lock - is it OK to store the rifle with the action open?

I would not, the action is cocked in this position and will eventually lead to a weak hammer spring . There are many locks available that will work with the action closed and the hammer down.

ya i don't lock mine in the gun safes either.
for transport ive been tossing them in a hard rifle case and just putting a lock on that.

doing a mechanical lock on the gun itself seemed like far too much work.

A Cable lock goes twice around the stock through the lever. Hammer is down. No spring tension.
Cannot open lever to feed a round. Overkill? Yes.

With the right cable lock or some other arrangement of chain and padlock simply lock the lever loop to the wrist of the stock. Then it can't be opened to #### the hammer or chamber a round and meets the letter and intent of the law. It only says that the firearm needs to be secured. it doesn't say how.

My own method is a length of pipe strapping with heat shrink tubing around it and a small padlock. But however you do it securing the lever loop to the wrist so it can't be opened is the way to do it with any lever rifle.

If you get a length of chain to use with a padlock see if there is anyone that can sew up a sleeve so it doesn't mark the wood. Or LIGHTLY shrink some heat shrink tubing around the chain. Don't fully shrink it or it'll clamp the chain into a fixed shape. You only want it to stay in place.
