Just wondering if anyone has shot with this gun before. Any good for just a little plinker. Mostly gonna use it for Prairie dogs.

I have had the 16-1/2" carbine for about a year and a half now. I love this little lever gun! Shoots like a dream and unlike a semi, it will eat any ammo I feed it. The sights do kinda suck though. The front blade is rather thick, but it does the trick on rabbits & gophers out to abour 30 - 40 yards for me. Hard to beat for the price.

No problem. I find that my Henry carbine is THE perfect backpacking .22. I take it everywhere with me when I'm out & about. Buy one, you won't be dissapointed!

Krausb, does your carbine have the large loop? Do you know where I can get one and for how much? Thanks (sorry about the thread hijack)

Yep! That's the one! I love that little rifle! I bought mine at Russell's in Calgary, but I've seen them at Wholesale Sports as well. If my memory's correct, I paid $279. The "youth" model is also nice. same gun without the large loop and about a 1" shorter buttstock if you're looking for something more compact.

Great! I'll have to track one down.
Can these tube-fed lever actions shot .22lr, .22l,.22short, and .22magnums (all from the same gun, that is)?

Like tiriaq says, not mags. I ha shot various LR rounds through it as well as CB shorts and CB longs without problem. Never shot longs, though. Can you even buy .22 long anymore? I have read (here on CGN, I believe) that regularly shooting shorts through a LR chamber is not good for the gun. So I switched to the CB longs.

I bought one for 22 silohuettes and it works flawlessly.Great trigger ,cycles well. The sights suck but I saved up and bought a Marbles rear tang peep sight.Should make a difference

Also, what is the advantage of the Carbine .22 over the regular .22?

From what I can gather, the Carbine has a bbl that is 2" shorter. Should make a difference in overall weight and quicker to "point".
Also, the Carbine has the large loop allowing for gloved and/or larger hands. A downside would be the decrease in capacity to hold
a couple of rounds less than the regular 18"bbl. Maybe one of the acutual owners can chime in with the facts.....

I have the regular and it shoots everything I've put through it, The wood on henry's is always top notch for a budget rifle. I think the regular holds on target better due to the extra weight out front, the carbine at the shop where i purchased mine almost seemed too light.
