Henry lever action = awesome

I have been eyeing a rimfire henry, good to read threads like this

They sure are fun! Picked one up about a month ago. Reminds me of my Daisy BB gun as a boy of 7. Was fun then and is fun now.

I almost bought the loop lever but when i picked it up the forend was loose reminding me why i sold my h001.

I haven't owned a Henry in years but appears the loose forend issue hasn't changed. All I did was remove the forend and stuck a length of electrical tape on, reassembled it and voila!.... nice and tight.

Loose forend does indeed still exist on some but not all new Henry lever action rifles.

I've never run into a loose forend of the dozen's that I have owned and/or shot, or any that I have fondled on gun racks either. Henry's are very nice from a fit/finish perspective IME... But the receivers do scratch more easily than a deep-blued steel receiver... I tend to treat my firearms with care and none of my Henry's are scratched after years of use.

where do you get the parts for the brass conversion.....direct from Henry?
Got a ballpark on the prices?

I got the parts in a group buy for RFC members offered by Henry Wisconsin... They have done it a few times... I made the. Buttplates out of solid brass 3/8" plate. The cost for the receiver cover and barrel band was $50 US (CRAZY good deal!) The lever was $35 US and my cost on the brass plate and screws when all was said and done was $30/each... I have three sets... One is on an H001 LR, and two sets are on H001T Frontiers in LR and HMR... My 22 Maggie is a Golden Boy, which goes great with my brass BIG BOY in .44 Mag... The two travel together most of the time.

Other than esthetics, is there a difference in quality/accuracy between the h001, GB, and the octagon barrel? I'll be looking to buy a Henry WMR as soon as my Ruger 10/22 sells.

Quality is pretty consistent. You're just paying for different cosmetics, etc. Mind you, I haven't seen any since they had to get a new CNC machine. Quality was good before so you would hope new machining will be better still.

Yeah, you've got the fun factor or working a (really slick) lever action and it cycles seemingly everything. Not to mention it has decent sights and is pretty accurate. I haven't shot it at paper but it hits everything I point it at. I've got a bunch of 22's and the henry is so enjoyable to use, it gets a lot of attention.
