Today I picked up the Henry lever-action .22 for $300 taxes included.
I had seen it at the Toronto Sportsman show and had wanted a .22 and a lever gun for a long time, so why not kill two birds with one stone, or gun as it may be.

Anyhow, at the show the rifle I handled had a very slight looseness in the fore end wood, such that I could move it and feel a slight click as I moved it up and down. This movement was very minor but I thought it might bug me even though I know it wouldnt affect function. The girl who showed it to me said all the ones she had seen come through the store had that slight movement.

I ended up going to Lebaron today and the one they had at the store did indeed have the same thing happening. I bought it anyway, as I wanted badly a lever action and a .22.

So now I would like to know if anyone else with this gun knows what I'm talking about, and has any idea how to remedy this? Maybe slip some paper towel between the magazine tube and wood? I though some play-dough or something would do the trick but Im afraid it'll rust the metal. I'm afraid of trying to tighten the band, the guy behind the counter said he thought it was about as tight as it could be.

I had a little losseness in mine too, I took a fine screwdriver and tightened the screw that goes thru the band on the front of the fore end all I could, and now it's really better, no loose unless someone put really strong pressure on the fore end.
On my win94 tho, I couldn't get rid of that loose on the fore end wood.

Easy fix is to remove the fore-end and shim the inside of the grip with electrical tape(or the tape of your choice that doesn't absorb moisture) and re-install.
If it still moves...add more tape until snug.
Hope this helps.

Alright, so last night I fixed it simply by taking the fore-end off and putting it back on and tightening it up real good.

The only reason I didn't try this at first was that at the shop the guy behind the counter said it wouldnt help. Being a relative newb, I believed him. Goes to show you you need to just try things out sometimes.

Thanks for the input though, I like the idea of the electrical tape, I'll do that if it becomes a problem in the future.

Glad everything worked out for you.
It still may loosen up on you 'cause wood has a tendancy to expand/shrink depending on the humidity and possibly some other conditions....but you already know that;)

I bought a Henry H001 last week and my fore-end is the same way. It mostly goes un-noticed though, unless I purposely try to move it.
