Henry Mares Leg .22 and .45lc

Foxer Ive been trying to look into adjusting the sights on the .22 .....

are they dovetailed in? I was hoping there would be holes on the reciever to mount a peep....

the front is a screw on ramp, the rear is a dovetail, and the reciever has a dovetail ramp for add on optics. Plenty of different choices for upgrades to the sight system.

Just got mine!
After 2 weeks in the bush firefighting while it waited at home I couldn't wait to open the package.
It's pretty sweet.
I was going to put a full stock on it, but first I'm going to try it out hobbled, see if it's as much fun or as awkward as it seems.
Then I might try the stock off my full size Henry .22 and see if I dig it as much.

Anyway still looking for an extra full-size or even better youth size stock for this thing......come on Wanstalls hook'a'bra....

I had to pick one of these things up. I just couldnt wait for the Ranch Hand anymore.

I tried out someone else's great idea and threw a single point bungee sling on the saddle ring. Holey Smokes! Its so steady and it shoots pretty damn well!

Yea - and to be honest with no recoil you can pretty much 'cheek' it and get pretty good results :)

This'll be a perfect addition when hunting for zapping the odd grouse who stumbles across my path. It shoots 22 shorts as i understand it, but haven't tested it yet.

Well after a bit of shooting with mine, I'd say I'm going to leave my Mare hobbled!

I found it to be quite accurate for what it is as long as I pin the rear stock against my cheekbone like I would getting cheekweld with a regular full stocked gun.
It's not as fast to cycle as my regular Henry and it's still somewhat unstable without that 4th stability point (shoulder) but I was getting groups of around an inch and a half at 15m offhand with bulkpack.
It's major fun on the reactive polypropelene ground targets and hit's at 25yds were easy. Even without a stock it'd be pretty easy to pot a grouse at close range, and around here they let you walk right up to them before they flush.
Best part is it fit's in my backpack without even disassembling. I think I'm going on a canoe trip as soon as the Fire ban is lifted in Eastern Manitoba and my overtime dries up.

yeah that's what i did too, and yes i was pleased with the accuracy all things considered.

Makes a great little companion gun for when you're out in the woods.

Tried this on the week-end

Bungee sling is never coming off this thing, its super steady with the sling and accurate for such a short barrel.
