I just ordered one of these (http://www.henryrepeating.com/h005_minibolt.cfm) for my son. He's still a little young, but later this year... gives me a chance to 'tweak' it, if it needs any work. Anyone own one, have any experiences they could pass along?

I'm not planning to put a scope on it, but I'm curious about the trigger, and the feel of the stock, as well as accuracy of course. Thanks!

They are great little rifles, super light weight and tiny. The sights are easy to explain and easy for the kids to use (Green and red). I have had one for about a year and haven't had any issues at all.

I was thinking about tying it to my pack this year for Ptarmigan when I am sheep hunting. The weight won't be a consideration.

Have fun with it.

Thanks, just picked one up. Overall impression: ideal beginner's/kid's rifle.

Trigger is heavy but relatively crisp. Cocking the hammer takes deliberate effort, but again is pretty crisp. Both plusses for a new shooter.

Safety is easy to access and intuitive, another plus.

Sights are great, I agree with your assessment there;-)

Overall fit and finish is quite good. The bolt fit is a touch loose in the receiver, but closes up tightly. I like the low-maintenance satin finish stainless steel, and synthetic stock.

And like you, I can't wait to take it out in the field after birds;-)

I paid $220 plus tax, definitely worth the cash--it would fit a 7yo perfectly, IMO.

Update: I cleaned it up a bit (barrel was filthy!), and polished the very simple sear/hammer connection. Pull is still heavy, but now has much less take-up, so a new shooter should be able to easily get a feel for where the rifle will fire.

It looks funny with the scope on. It looks like it's all scope.:D
