Well after about 5000 bb's through the Red Ryder this summer I think tomorrow it's time to order a .22 for my kid. I think I've got it down between the Henry mini or the Marlin 915YS. I like the Herny because it's a pound lighter and a couple inches shorter but the Marlin is drilled/grooved for a scope. Though I think it's important for him to shoot for awhile with open sights to learn proper hold and form, I know that after awhile he'll want to be like dad a have a scope. On the Henry web site or anywhere else there is not mention of the Mini being able to take a scope but on the Henry web site there is also a picture of one with a scope mounted. Just wondering if anyone knows if they are factor drilled and taped or have a rail?
Thanks for any input on either of these guns or any of the other small .22's, Savage Cub etc.
