I have a Henry Model X in 357, the gun is a hoot to shoot but like every other firearm I have owned I find myself getting bored of it.

This is mostly because the site I used to go to no longer exists so I only have access to the range where you have to sit and shoot. Shooting a lever gun from a bag kinda sucks.

My question is this..

Do I upgrade it with Ranger Point Precision parts - stock and fore end to revitalize it or do I sell it and get something different?

What would you do

You could make it into a tactical lever like others on here have done.

You don't have any Crown Land within driving distance to shoot at?

I'd find a range or a place to shoot and introduce reactive targets like steel to your shooting time because bench shooting is for fudds.

Will adding farkles to it make it more interesting to shoot from a bench? Or is it just to enjoy the tinkering involved and then admiring it in the safe?

Personally, I'd put time and money into finding a more interesting location to shoot.

Agree with this, particularly since the OP indicated the primary contributing factor to the boredom was the range situation. I think if any range mandated the only way to shoot is sitting down, I suspect many gun owners would have similar feelings of meh, irrespective of the gun.

Also concur with the other posters about selling it while it is popular. These seem to sell out quickly at retailers once a new shipment comes in. But then again if you get something different, you may still be plagued by the same sit down range policy, which may repeat the same scenario you are in now, but down the road.

Sound advice. If you can only drive 35km, does it really matter what car you are driving? Find a better road.

I dolled it up a bit.

Fun level has increased.
