The Henry long ranger and Winchester 1885 in 6.5 Creedmoor appeals to me more than I am proud to admit, in no small part because it will get fudds screaming and pulling at hair over the chambering while also sending the tacticool crowd for a safespace with their classic styling.

I must admit what I really want from Henry is the Long Ranger in .338 Federal.

Thump up close and a slippery bullet...

Until they produce a model in stainless that is well under 7lbs the Marlin 1894SBL/CSBL is the better rifle. The XS sighting system and rail on the Marlin is by far superior to a fragile and unprotected front fiber optic.
Given the close MSRP between the two I'd pick the lighterweight full stainless Marlin everytime.

Now you're talking

Yep, this thread has run its natural course; starts with the new Henry Xcp:, progresses to the loading-gate Big Boys, then onto the Long Ranger, and now to its logical end-point: the Browning BLR, which predates all of them. :)

Another vote/drool for the Henry Long Ranger. I was close to pulling the trigger when Cabela's had them on sale over the holidays, but too little disposable cash at the time. Still trying to decide on .223 or .308 as I am trying to standardize my rifle calibers to those two plus .22.

*Laughs in Winchester*

Well, that's just great. For years, I lusted after a brass-frame Henry, but was turned off by tube loading based upon my years of fumbling with rimfire leverguns. Finally, thanks to hoyt and a few others, I was willing to try one on the premise that tube-loading big fat cartridges was nicer than dinky little .22's. Got a Mare's Leg .44mag, put a full buttstock on it, and loved it.

So, sure enough...now they start building side-loaders!
