Henry plain jane 22 lever action, any good?

it was hard to get them over the winter as their factory was destroyed last year in that hurricane but it seems like they are up and running again as i know a couple places just got in massive orders from them.

my dad picked one up and loves it.

i had the opportunity to play with their base model and their golden boy as well as some browning level 1 and 2 all side by side one day.
while the Henry was a fantastic gun i prefer the short throw of the browning.
but the Henry was solid and my dad loves his!

Is that the octogon version, does it make it front heavy.. I tried a friends Winchester it was a thing of beauty..perfect balance
Isn`t it though!!! I own a 1977 9422 Winny and a 1958 Marlin 39A....the Winny is so light and absolutely perfectly balanced and the action is smooth as silk unlike the Marlin! I have never handled a Henry or Browning to compare those.

The Henry h001 IS a great rifle, never having handled any other levers other than marlin guide guns in 45-70 and 30-30...

The Henry i just purchased absolutely BLOWS the marlins outta the water! Henry has a much higher quality in the fit and finish, and much smoother action.

I have handled a few Henry rimfire levers, and they are of awesome quality. So smooth and have extremely nice fit and finish. A plain .22lr is a must have for me this year.

Not to mention after i disassembled only to the point of taking the bolt out, cleaning it and oiling it, man its even smoother than it was. :)

I'm interested in one too but I'm a little worried about the Zamac receiver anything wrong with that? The Norinco JW-21 lever is all steel and $100 less.

Don't sweat the Zamac receiver, for three reasons; 1. They have been in use for years with no failure of the receiver. 2. Replacement receivers are readily available and not expensive, even if you want to upgrade to the Brasslite receiver. 3. Henry has the BEST customer service department that I have ever dealt with in 45+ years in shooting sports.
