Tangs, who wadda thunk they were so damn sensitive!! Tried to make my mares leg into something a tad more useful in the bush and made a Jam'O'Matic out of the poor thing. Every time the bolt coming back would catch the top of the hammer and lock everything up.
I measured between stocks and there was a .1 difference with the new stock spreading the receiver tangs a wee bit causing the bolt to catch the top of the hammer. Some chisel and dremel work and all good, but even then - just the slightest out of parallel with the tangs on the stock and the rifle would jam.
Looking at the stock now, I see that I will have to shape the entire front end properly so that the top tang resides properly but at least I know that I'm not crazy..... ier or something
Now to refinish everything.....
