Henry Single Shot in Rimless Cartridges

Anybody have any experience good or bad with the Henry Single Shot in rimless cartridges? Ie 223, 243, etc.

Was yours a pre-recall gun by chance? The trigger is MUCH better after the recall, went from 7lb to 3.5 IIRC on mine.


MiG25, I have one in 243. I have not shot it a ton, but I have had zero issues with it other than the trigger being really heavy, and as noted above that is no longer an issue.

I ordered one of the first rifles. So I am guessing prior to a recall
 
I've got the .308, it's one of the first issues, but haven't sent it in for the recall. Trigger is good, I just use the open sights on it, quite accurate at 100 yards. Nice little gun to carry through the bush.
 
I just acquired a Henry H105 243. Have fired 5 rounds just to get a handle on brass measurements for reloading.
This one has the dimple in the trigger guard indicating it has the updated trigger and it's not to bad.
I found that it has a very generous chamber with a lot of head-space.
I'm waiting for a scope mount and will update when I get glass mounted.
I wanted a 308 but the 243 just walked into my life.
It compliments my HenryH105 12 Gauge slug gun bought last year.
 
I have a 223 and 243, no issue, post recall, great triggers, sold them both and went with cva scout, far better hunting rifle and more accurate

The CVA's and Traditions G3 got some nice things going. Cerracote, Lothar barrel's (not sure about the CVA's but they sure look assembled in Spain same factory), nice triggers, hinge lever not jammed into your hand, no walnut options thou, but less then half the price.

Pretty sure CVA has barrels made in the same factory as Bergara barrels
 
I almost bought a Henry single shot in .243 recently. Beautiful walnut on it. I did not care for the trigger or the accuracy that I have seen in testing.

Now, I am waiting for the 2025 updated CVA Scouts to release with the new updates (adjustable comb, better optic rail etc.) and that'll be my single shot rifle.

I do like the wood on my Henry... This is the youth length stock they sent me for free...

I am very happy I bought one ~5 years ago on sale for like $450 though. I like the gun, but I can certainly see why the CVA is popular given the price difference!

Agreed. The Henry is a looker for sure!
 
One thing I didn't like about the henry single is the height you have to mount the scope to clear their hammer. Have to go high, and then add a cheek riser.

The CVA is a better platform, but I agree the Henry does look better in the wood stocks. I guess the VCA in a boyds stock would solve that, but then the price gets up there.
