Scoping a new rifle, and I've always run NightForce before.

Saw a Hensoldt and thought I might try one, but read their customer service went for crap awhile ago. Are they pretty bad if something does go wrong? Optically I quite like the Hensoldt, but I've never owned one, just checked it out at the store.

Also considering the Vortex 5-25x50 with 35mm tube as a change if pace. Thoughts on that one?

Only good things to say about Hensoldt RSA, one went south on my Desert Eagle 44 mag, call the dealer, sent a few pictures, they sent me another brand new one, not even asking for the old one.. It is sure i will do more business with Tactical Import... A 963 is on the verge of being ordered... JP.

Ya spend ya money....ya take your chances:p

So....what does that mean exactly? Hit or miss? I know the scopes are great, and the optics are awesome, but since they got sold to "whoever it is now" I have heard if there is an issue they are terrible with service. True? Not true?

Night Force gets great accolades for their customer service. For the price of a Hensoldt, there had better be some factory support is all. If there is that might be the way I go this time around.

I believe the dealer, is a lot more important here, Tactical Import showed me their true colors with a 500.00 item, they were outstanding, so now, i dont see why id'e be scare to invest mega money on their stuff, that was my experience with this Hendsolt dealer, this is what bring loyalty of the customer.... A least mine.... My 0.02 cents... JP.

no such thing as a Vortex 5-25.. it's a 5-20 and if you're thinking of that route you might want to wait for the 2nd Gen Razor in 4.5-27

Sorry, yup typo. I saw the new one, very nice, but for that price it better stack up! Lol

I'll talk more to the dealer here about the Hensoldt. My NF scopes come from ATRS so I know they treat people well.

As nice as the Hensoldts are, I think they are fast becoming outdated. In the segment of the market the Hensoldts compete in, there are better values that offer more for the money. Hensoldt is still running an outdated (compared to its competitors) 4X erector assembly, multi-turn turrets with no rev indivator (lines only), no zero-stop, and very limited reticle options.
They do have exceptional glass (possibly nicer than S&B to my eyes), a generous eye-box and great build quality, but so do the other offerings in this price point.
I think that you should give the newest Steiners a serious look. If they deliver what they promise at the prices suggested they will be the best value out there bar none.

That's quite a separation in choices both in quality and price between Vortex and a Henny!

Price isn't so much of a difference, only 500-600 between the two here in Calgary. That's why I am thinking about it. But the Hensoldt is about $1000 more than the NF. All of them have nice optics as far as my test run went.

Good points about features and bang for buck comparisons. More to think about.
