This should probably be in optics, but the guys who might have seen one of these tend to live here - mods feel free to move it if necessary.

Has anyone seen and/or used a Hensoldt ZO 4x scope - they look like someone took the basic Elcan and redesigned it properly, with internal adjustments. Hensoldt has a great reputation in Europe, just wondering if anyone had played with one here yet??

Saw it at Shot Show. It was nice, but doesn't seem to offer anything Trijicon doesn't. For the price, I'd go with the ACOG, or even the Elcan OS4x.

The thing is big - maybe there are some uses on a MG for spotting. I will go with either ACOG for weight/compactness or the Elcan FIST sight if you like big honking aluminum block - you can get local warranty and support for Elcan.

Just because it is an "internal" adjustment" system and Hensoldt, it does not mean it is good. Hensoldt made some good optics - but their original G36 optics is a disaster even though it is of an "internal adjustment system". What a piece of s**t it is. The thing cannot hold zero.
The Z-point is also useless and it exists because German government insist on buying German. Get a clue when everyone is using aimpoint and eotech.

I am not saying the new ZO is good or bad, but Hensoldt can churn out both good and bad optics, so far anything they made en mass for the German army to put on the G36 in the last 15 years are garbage. I will wait and see, and see if the German Government cheaps out again or they are actually spending some coins to spec something that works.

If you want to be a beta tester, there is also the Leupold HAMR.

The FOV on the Hensoldt ZO 4x30 is 15-45% higher than comparable alternatives, while still maintaining a decent eye relief and OAL.

Optical clarity is very subjective, but Hensoldt does have a very good reputation for modern production riflescopes.
