Well we have had it since oct/nov 2012 its my wife's plinker but i am am the one that cleans and maintains it for her. She shoots a minimum 500 rounds per range trip and it is pretty dirty by the time she is done.

I noticed in particular after the last range trip the flash hider was excessively dirty & so gummed up with lead that i had to heat up with a lighter then chip & pry off with my pocket knife.

She has four mags one seems to be a little more of a pain than the others but its rare for her to go a full mag (usually 6 or 7 rounds) without at least one feed or ejection issue the most common fail is the ejecting brass gets caught on top of the fresh round as it goes into the chamber sandwiching it between the 75% chambered round and the top. to correct this the only way to get it out is to push it out through the barrel and shake it out. The un-fired round ends up being to bent to use. the wife is getting pretty good at clearing the failures but it is annoying...

Another thing that i noticed just this last trip is that its binding a bit when cambering the first round of a mag and sometimes you have to give the bolt a little help to fully close.

She shoots pretty good with it, i imagine shed be much better if she spent less time clearing jams.

I want to keep her interested in shooting, she is not really interested in my handguns but she loves the tactical rifles. I am going to add her to the waiting list for an Ruger SR22 (maybe grab the S&W) but i need to get this working for her... I am thinking about getting some polishing compound and some grease... any tips where to lube it heavy and what should be polished smooth? what about the mags what can be done to them to help out?

FYI update : gave it to the store to send for warranty March 30th was told 6-8 weeks
FYI update : 11 weeks into the 6-8 contacted store and warranty center no confirmation that it even got there
FYI update : it's now June 18th getting past 12 weeks no word or firm confirmation of delivery to the warranty center
FYI update : June 19th received confirmation that warranty center received it June 7th.. Yes June...
FYI update : Aug 5th still no word on what's wrong or when it's coming back.
FYI update : Aug 16th its back in my possession, hopefully all is well.

Gotta ask....what are you feeding her? (the gun, not the wife ;-) )
My 715 really likes Blazers. I clean it about every 2000 rounds and it has never been close to this dirty.
 
Have a 715T non flat top, got it for the kids. Took it to the range last week for the first time. I put 100
rounds down the pipe, had 4 jams as they failed to eject completely. I was using Blazers from a 500 round brick.
Cleaned it top to bottom and lubed, will try it again Tuesday night and let you know.
 
Grease is usually too heavy a lube to use with rimfires, it will cause more jams. Think of it as using 15W-40 in a Honda Civic, too heavy! Use a thin coat of gun oil or try running it dry. Also try different types of ammo.

Things to polish, usually the feed ramp and any machining marks on surfaces where metal rubs metal, look for witness marks.

Last 1050 where Blazer bulk... Before that a mix of dynapoint, 555, federal and blazer. Always been a jammer never this dirty it was like a ring of lead in the flash hider.

The wife eats whatever she feeds me.. ;-)

I'm was thinking some grease on the spring where it goes into the back of the bolt I noticed its making a croak like sound when i pull the bolt back slowly I thought it was full of junk so i blasted it out with action cleaner to no avail.

Though on grafite dry lube?
 
I've owned both handle and flat top version 715T. Loved them both until cleaning. I got so sick of all the screws I sold them both. Switched to the SU-22. Now just a pin to pop and clean. Miss the AR-15 look though!
Loved how they grouped, better than my friends SR-22 any day of the week!
Strange I've had 7 25 round mags and never had any issues, guess I got lucky!
 
Do not use graphite! It is a boundary lubricant at LOW speed and an abrasive at high speed. For rimfire semis the best lube is anything that works well in an AR. They have the same issues to deal with due to the high amount of powder fouling in the action. There are a number of oils made specifically for this type of environment. MPro7 is my favourite, I use their standard gun oil in my rimfires and the synthetic LPX in my XCR. It handles the powder fouling really well and stays lubricious for a lot longer than cheap oils. It also resists heat breakdown really well. You can run it on gas pistons without it baking on. Anything that was designed for the AR will work well in your rimfire.
 
I use G96 and a snake on my sr22 and it works great. sprayed a teeny bit into my bc 25 rd mags and they seem to run better too. Been running 555s thru it and no lead build up at all.
 
I pulled mine apart and used frog lube on everything, it seems to have helped a noticeable amount. The misfeeds I have are when the empty case gets jammed behind the fresh round, I have to pull the new round out (it usually gets about half way in) and then the empty falls clear. It happens no matter what I feed it, but like I said less often now.

The other thing I did was pull all my mags apart and file the bottom edge of the followers and the edge of the plastic where the metal tabs seat. This bevels the edges and I have had no problems loading the mags like a lot of people seem to have. I also think it has helped some of the feed problems as the follower no longer gets hung up as it transitions from the plastic to the metal.

I have also experienced the lead build-up in the muzzle brake, I notice my groups start to wander when the lead really builds up. I chip it out with a small screwdriver after a liberal application of a heat gun. The heat gun has changed the colour of the brake a little, but I could care less.

Try Frog Lube. After my 715 was getting all gummed up and miss-feeding from shooting bulk blazers, I used some Frog Lube and it's been perfect since. Your wife will also enjoy the minty fresh scent.

I'm also a big fan of G96, but I only spray it on a cloth an wipe off the top of the magazine + follower. The 5 units I have all load and feed great.

Spraying into the bc25...don't think I'd go that far on a mag that cannot be openned...unless it's already giving me headaches.
 
Was that a question? MPro7 is really good stuff. None of it has a strong smell so the wife won't complain about it in the house, infact their standard oil is odorless. The LPX has a slight odour from one of the boundary lubricants that makes it smell kind of like gear oil. The bore gel is awesome for removing stubborn carbon and the standard cleaner works excellent for everything else.

Good to know, those 2 are all that they have at the local store that aren't rem-oil or hoppes. Wife doesn't mind the smell or rem-oil, britebore, action cleaner... And she let's me clean them at the dining room table.
 
When u disasemble check where the extractor slides in to the reciever mine stuck out a little and hit the inside i could see rub mark there i sanded the rear part of the extractor flush to the side of the bolt so it goes in and out without touchin i think it would bump as it went back with spent round causin it to let go and get caught as the next one was on its way in seemed to help mine.......i also run mine pretty dry not much oil etc......

I used 500 grit with a block and held wth a finger as i sanded it also get all the paint out of inside reciever polish bolt sides dont touch face of it though and any spots were the bolt touches and feed ramp i did mine all with 500 grit then cleaned it up goog after u will see where stuff is rubbing just smooth it out the paint heats up and gets gummy i think after use try it out takes a bit but helped mine out...cheers u can see where the bolt is sliding and polish those areas of both bolt and reciever just enuf to smooth out and get paint off then once the paint is out i used 2000 2500 on bolt sides and where it slides on bottom of reciever and feed ramp with a chop sick that fits the sam diameter just a quick one not to remove to much material or change angle at all

Talked to the guy at the store where it was purchased he would like the send it in for warranty... 6-8 weeks to get it back possibly more if it needs replacement.
It would be a good excuse to grow the collection because 8 weeks is a long time, possibly a 10-22 in an archangel in the not so distant future... For the wife of course... ;)
