Her Mossberg 715t Flat top is a Dirty Harlot

i just got the 2 mags in, will take a pic and upload it in a min. but another thing i noticed with the 25 round mag is that after you load in 10 rounds, it goes from a nice alternating pattern IE bullets are stacked side to side nicely to straight up and down for the rest, and after you load the first 10 it gets very stiff to load, i'm thinking of taking it apart and relieving one of them a bit to loosen up the bullets inside. VERY sloppy design, very unimpressed with the 25 round mags so far.
Just take it apart, and fine sand paper the bottom sharp edges off the red follower,
and remove those molding seams from the black follower and that should be enough to make it run a lot smoother.

yup going to be doing that today, also going to glue the spring to the red follower, lots of people seem to say that really helps as well. going to try taping it up to get a tighter fit as well.

Edit: ok so i took the mag apart, sanded the followers, glued the spring to the red follower. i can now get in 25 rounds by hand but it's not as "easy" as i would like it, i still feel its binding where it goes from metal to plastic, but it definatly seems to feed properly now. i wrapped the metal part with electrical tape to make it fit tighter in the gun... i feel a range day tomorrow.

I'm glad you posted the pics of the 2 new mags you bought as i was just about to buy two myself,
but now i will wait till your verdict is in whether they function properly or not.
I see why the 10 rounders were sold out (Cabela's) and they still had lots of the 25 rounders left.

I received an email Wed from Mossberg telling me that getting new mags to market will take 3 to 4 months :(

range tomorrow morning or early next week, want to get my dad out for fathers day. i am hopeful the mods that i did worked... i really find it fun toying with guns like this :p all my other stuff is so mint i never get to play smithy! lol. the 10 rounds are cleared out everywhere because they work! i'm a little perplexed why the 2 are different, the 25 round is just a 10 round without the floor plate and clipped into a plastic housing. i might try swapping my 10 round onto a 25 round extension to see if it works better if they still don't work well. I'll make a video at the range and put it up on youtube maybe.

Up date.
I have shot the rifle more and more, and its gets more reliable the more you shoot it.
Taken the mags apart 2 times each to smooth out any rough spots,
as well i took a small round needle file to the edges of the slotted holes in the metal portion of the mag.
The bullet rims can snag up on these when loading and unloading (during firing).
Now i can load the mags by hand without the aid of that loading tool .
It will now run "555's" as well as the Fed "525" bulks now with only the occasional
empty case that gets caught in the ejection port.
I am thinking main spring is a bit stiff yet.

I have also taken the rifle apart 2 times now, and cleaned (super filthy)
and polished any parts that get shiny spots from metal to metal contact.
Broke the sharp edge of the hole in the bolt where the main spring rides in.
This made the cycling much smoother after that.

Going on 13 weeks now and still no news.. I got in touch with the warranty guy who told me that he never saw it. Told that to the store they did some serious back pedaling saying that they sent it to the distributor who was going to send it for warranty and that I should not contact the warranty people directly and that I should go through them... Still no confirmation that it was or is being fixed or even that it made it to the warranty center.

I am starting to wish it comes back as a 12ga...

Mentioned what you posted here this morning at my local gun shop, and he said if its the same distributor that he deals with as it maybe the only Canadian Mossberg contact,
is that the guy isn't in a hurry to fix or send back to factory of warranty items.
You should ask for the gun back, or email Mossberg and make a complaint.

Yeah pretty much what I was thinking... I just got confirmation that it was delivered to gretch on June 7th and that it is now in line for repair.... Ridiculous...

6-8 weeks pffft try 2-5 months.... It's not even as if it was waiting for parts or anything it was just lying around some jack wagons warehouse.

Certainly taints my taste for mossberg.

so did some range testing yesterday and almost forgot to post up! the magazines feed "better", still not happy, i can feed 20 rounds pretty cleanly, any more than that and the first few jam. i am really thinking that cut in the front is the culprit now, the few rounds that jammed seemed to nose dive right into the bottom edge of the ramp that feeds the bullet into the chamber.

The guns are a bit ammo brand sensative I have found.
Federal bulk hollow point plated runs perfect for me.
Some of the other brands like win 555 bulk are problematic.
High velocity's work best, while some lower stuff doesn't always get ejected.
After more shooting, the "555's" are now working good.
Mossberg does say to use HV ammo only.

yeah mine really likes the remington yellow jackets, they run perfect, im finding the remington bulk much better than the winchester stuff, seems to feed and fire very well.

Then there are other models that won't cycle Yellow jackets.
Just have to experiment.

I have heard that Dynapoint and Winchester 555 work well. I have use a couple bricks of cci subsonic and CCI standard...worked 100% until the other day. I suppose a 1000rds + will do that....I have also fired 500-600 Quiet and low noise out of it....Also fired some shorts and blazer....and CCI stingers....which beat the crap out of the gun. I bought one of those fake silencers on EBAY for it..threads on to the flat top and looks cool.
I had it apart yesterday and did a complete cleaning...my god it was dirty,...I was using a screwdriver and dental pick to clean the crud out. Before I put it back to together, I did a light sanding with 600grit...and polishing on the bolt...seems to function smoother as a result.

if anything, it needs a better buffer,....an after market clear resin buffer like those available for the ruger 10/22 would help smooth it out.

Can you post a couple of pics of that silencer?
Hopefully there will be after market parts like buffers available soon for these.

Never did care for the 555's but the 40gr Dynapoints always worked well in both my 702 carryhandle and the 715.
Federal's and Blazer worked pretty good too
