Has anyone ever had problems removing the M4 tube adapter that comes pre installed on the Hera Arms SL8 lower? Ive obviously removed the pins/ screws from mine but she is stuck in there good. I was given a suggestion of attaching an m4 tube for leverage however outside of buying a useless 50$ receiver extension, does anyone have any tips on getting this sum##### off?

Yes, when i had mine sucker was really locked in. I used a buffer tube and a vice, protected with cardboard on the jaws.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Damn I was really hoping I wouldn’t have to buy a buffer tube for a part that Hera claims “just pulls out”. Why they install this M4 adapter at the factory blows my mind.

Hera Arms does a ton of stuff that doesn't make sense. If you have a vice at home, you can put some good solid tape on the adapter portion and should be able to pull it off without a buffer tube wrench. (there's enough width to clamp with a vice). Put a little WD 40 int o the screw holes to help it come out.

I remember when I used to work at a gun shop and did one of these for a gentleman, it was a pain to get out (to put the ACR stock on) but not THAT difficult.

ETA

you can also use something like popsicle sticks or something like that if you have an aggressive vice and you're worried about it marring the aluminum through the tape.

So I was just gonna update the thread that I got that stubborn adapter off buy using a method pretty much like you described.

I ended up spraying some G96 around the opening of the adapter, then tossed it in the vice using some plastic vice pads. I pulled on the receiver straight up and it popped off.

I guess it just really needs that even pressure being pulled on the adapter.

And yeah my initial reason behind not wanting to use a vice or aggressive tools was that I was concerned I was gonna slip and bugger sh!t up.

You can see in the pics below where the metal was binding up on the adapter. Not a ton but it was enough to hold it pretty tight. The hole that shows wear on the adapter seemed to have been binding against a “non flush” area in the lower (see pic of the lower for reference).
