HERA H6 Rifle .223 Rem 18" Non-Restricted

It seems Hera Germany is reluctant to officially admit any of this.
Hera USA is offering the magwells but stating there's no garantee it will fix it entirely.

I sincerely hope it does, but honnestly, if Hera Germany doesn't "man up", as much as I like the rifle, i would never consider Hera again.

Hera USA has offered to step in to help, but ultimately this is Hera Germany's responsibility, and so far no luck with them.

I got Hera USA to talk to Hera Germany and they are helping me to get a new magwell but can't guarantee it will solve the feeding problem.

Hera USA did say that Germany is aware of many H6s in Canada having feed issues.

Same, i got the same exact reply from Hera USA, i'm a bit worried that Hera Germany is staying silent in all this.
It would be nice if they acknowledged it and stood behind their product.

Right now it feels like someone is helping us because the main company won't, kinda...

I'm still hopeful that the new magwell will fix it for good though...

The US never got them (which would explain the lack of information about them on the web).
I've been told they will be getting a newer "wylde" model soon.

The language used by the US sales rep was "Germany has distributed an earlier version before the US has even sold the H6 rifles" and "it seems this issue is recurring with only the .223 Rem version in Canada."

So it does seem like Canada got an early version with issues.

Thanks for the updates, gents. Very interesting and disturbing; not pleasant to learn that Canada is being used as a beta test site.

The H6 is definitely one of those guns with which I gradually become disillusioned and lose all interest in owning. That doesn't usually happen until after I have bought one, but in this case...:(

Update on the replacement mag well.

It does appear to fix the problem for the most part. So far just testing with some dummy rounds. The new magwell has much tighter tolerances with the magazine and may even push the magazine slightly closer to the bolt.

Best result with LAR metal mags. The Hera factory mag also works well. PMAG have interference with the bolt and one round didn't feed.

Sorry, I may have missed some posts or updates. Where did you get the replacement mag well?

Thank you

I honestly don't know if I hate it or not, but I'm just trying to figure out why? What is the benefit of the side-load mag? Anyone?
For people who like getting their rifle caught on branches as they walk through the bush

Our warranty center SFRC does have various spare parts including revised magwells for the Hera H6.

The reason why the magwell had to be sent from HERA USA is due to the very strict export control of any firearm components from the German government. It is the quickest and most efficient way to get it from US instead of Germany.

That's good to know. Unfortunately i was told by my selling dealer to send it in for evaluation instead of just sending me the magwell.
That's a lot of trouble for a known problem.
Hera USA is sending me the part. Probably would have been quicker if SFRC would have sent it but as long as the issue is resolved i'll be happy.

When contacted your warranty rep said to reach out to Hera Germany.

This gun should be pulled from the market. It's a disaster. Just sold mine after the partial fix and took a very large loss.

Another update. Installed updated magwell. Huge difference in loading mags. Factory mag actually fits, lar mags fit better, cross mags actually fit. Bolt will not close when mag empty but bolt actually moves freely with mags installed. Feels much better. Didn't want to cycle any live rounds in my house.

Will report back when I make it to the range.

I received my new magwell and finally had an opportunity to test it at the gun range today. FYI - I'm one of the early adopters when this rifle first arrived in Canada. New magwell is day and night difference compared to the old one. Old one was finnicky and inconsistent. With quite a bit of testing, here's what I've found:
- polymer mags fit well and work well, cycle smoothly with zero issues, including the factory Hera mag, magpul pmags
- metal mags (CPD LAR-15) generally worked, but had some hiccups
- however, cross mags did not work

I'm going to stick with polymer mags moving forward but I'm quite pleased with it. Fun plinker. :)

This is good to see they've addressed this issue and have a fix.
I wonder if mag wells will go out to stocking dealers or is a take a chance and is on the buyer to sort it out if there are issues.
