in all seriousness i like it. i wanted to do something like that to my m14 to get rid of the rattle-o-mattic gas system attached to my barrell .. but apparently its quite hard to extract shot brass ?

I did the same mods to mine, the barrel is still longer than 18.5, it takes a matter of seconds to slap the piston back in, (which i do on a regular basis for QAS) the brass catcher is combersome and expensive compared to a tiny free gas plug. The brass is not hard to extract, and over all i think its a worth while system.
