Restricted firearms range/competition only.
Question 1: would I be permitted to discharge non-restricted firearms on my own property in a non-hunting context? That is to say, practicing on tin cans or paper targets and the like.
1 yes, provided the municipality has no discharge bylaw and you are far enough from dwelling and roadways.
Question 2: if I were on my own private property and wanted to hunt game on that property - would I be still be subject to hunting regulations (i.e. take the Hunter's Ed course, get an H1 Outdoors Card with the proper tags, etc.), or is that waived if I'm on my own property (i.e. not Crown land) and it's not federally regulated (such as ducks flying overhead)?
2 unless you're a farmer, no. Farmers can hunt small game without a permit on their land. no big game however. You would still be subject to hunting restrictions, and require hunter safety, licenses, etc
