I've been in the blind now for an hour trying to calm my nerves surfing CGN. 10 more minutes before the gun comes out. Wish me luck, it's my first big game hunt!

We were huntig 77B, Adjala township. I had one opurtunity present itself around 8:45am after someone North of me started shooting, a medium size buck came my way down the fence line. I wasn't 100% confident of the shot so I didn't pull the trigger.
It most likely would have been a clean kill, but I didn't want to risk my first deer being a wounded deer. I had to make an appearance at work today but I'll be back out this evening.

I had a similar opportunity on my first elk hunt EVER this year. Spooked a herd and had a shot at a nice bull but wasnt confident on the distance so I didnt take the shot. Ended up getting a shot about 300 yds from where I spooked them the next day (40yds max) and getting my first elk! Stick with it and you'll find success!
Make sure you post pics when you get him!

I always remember the deer I _could_ have shot in retrospect. Sometimes you remember doing something stupid that spooked it, sometime you're wishing you'd have tried a different hiding spot and sometimes it's just dumb luck. They're just as sweet memories as the shots I took successfully though.
I'd rather see a nice deer and pass on a questionable shot that have to deal with the fallout of screwing up a questionable shot any day. Good on you and whoever taught you right!
