Great Pics - Keep 'em coming!

Great pics fellas!

Watch out though. I just picked up a new Nikon Coolpix P50 [to replace my last Nikon digital that #1 son dropped.... :runaway:]..... As soon as I fiddle with it a bit to get comfortable, this thread has some possibilities! :p

Thor, having the magazines under the gun is a distraction. Also, I would loose the watch, bracelet and Whitney Houston(?!) flask, and possibly the gloves. I would also adjust the composition to make sure the edge of the table, and whatever that is in the middle of the table (a lamp?) are not visible. You have decent exposure and lighting... Did you use a bounced or diffused flash?

How I took the shot?

When I get my P345 I will do a poor mans version!

Timbertec, what kind of lighting did you use?

I set the pistols up on the kitchen table on a box with some newspapers behind them, put my Samsung Digital cam on a tripod, set it with a 10 sec delay... then pointed two Pelican LED flashlights with a diffuser on each (a square of TP held on with a rubber bad) at the pistols until the lighting looked right in the display... then clicked and waited for the shot... no flash..

Too busy. The composition is not that good. You also have a split between the gun and the watch/flask. You have two separate focal points drawing the attention away from each other. The bottom of the magazine that the gun is on makes this separation worse. Definitely cuts it is half.

If you had moved the flask closer to the gun and the flask crossed the boundary line, created by the bottom of the magazine, it would help.

Since I can't recompose I did a simple crop to improve (in my opinion) the image. Like I said I would still like to move things a bit but unfortunately can't.

You have some good elements. You don't have to use them all in the same image though. Sometimes less is more. Boy this photo critiquing is fun.

Inspired by another thread on this forum, and with some time on my hands, I present to you this image for your persual, review, consideration, comment, derision etc. etc.

Thank-you for your time. :)

I like the gun, but there's too much going on in the picture. It's hard to discriminate between the magazine and the stuff lying on top. Something about the guns, booze, and bling seems cheezy too.
