Here's the new Guidegun.

You put bedliner on walnut? Quick! Quick! Someone bring me a bag!

Why not just put an oil finish on it? Covering up walnut is plain disgusting. Why not find a cheap beach or maple stock for that kind of "work".

Sorry, my dad worked with wood as a sample maker/carpenter all his life. It wore off on me. Covering up a decent piece of wood is sinfull.

Probably woodn't do anything for protection that the original finish woodn't have done, might make it worse by trapping moisture in. I never seen a stock rotting off a gun anyway. Your gun though so if you like it...kewl.

These rifles are working guns in the truest sense - not showpieces (even though they look nice). If the bedliner finish Win94 applied makes his rifle more suitable for him than I think it's a great idea. It sure looks like he did a nice job of applying it.

Walnut stock or not, the black bedliner and stainless rifle make it about as weatherproof as you could ask. I think it's neat (although I'll be keeping mine the way it is :) )

**Edit to add: I'd be more concerned about the scope he plans on mounting ;)

You are all talking as if it was a piece of highly figured Walnut like a CZ or BRNO. It was a friggen wood stock.

................whats wrong with a 2.5x compact Leupold??? Not that i am looking for approval.:D

Who ever said that stainless and walnut look good together anyway? I always thought those stainless GG's looked ugly. I think it looks a lot better now....and like Mark said, its not like it was a highly figured piece, I've not seen a GG with that yet. Nice going Mark, ever think about bead blasting the metal to give it a softer finish?

Nice pictures - I think it looks pretty cool :)

The problem with regular synthetic stocks, which would also look cool with the stainless, is that they're too light. Going this route seems the best of both worlds if you want a black finish.

**Edit to add: Now you need a stainless big-loop lever from Wild West.

What ever you do with it, bead blast or not, scoped, or not...although I think your scope choice is a good one...let me know WHEN you're going to sell it.

Yeah, you know you'll sell it:p  :onCrack:

Roughed up the stock Bruce, then two coats of flat black primer and 4 coats of bedliner from an aerosol. On the last coat if you hold the can about a foot and a half from what your spraying, you will get a more textured application.

I think that weather proofing a tightly grained walnut stock has limited value, but it's your gun, and you don't need to justify your decision to anyone. The work was nicely done as far as I can tell from the pics.

There ya go.......
