Has anybody bought anything from Hero Outdoors Army Surplus store in Ontario? I created an order on March 26th. The order was wrong and called the store 5 minutes after placing the order but I was told that online orders can only be cancelled via emails. I sent 6 emails to sales team to cancel the order but they still shipped it. I also tried to cancel it through (FRAUD ALERT) but (FRAUD ALERT) didn't help me either. They just closed my dispute.
How is the return policy of this store? I haven't received the order yet and I am planning to refuse the parcel so that it can go back to the sender? Will I get my money back?
I have seen a lot of negetive reviews about this store on Google. I wish I would've done my research before buying anything from them!

If you have option to buy from other retailer, do it. My last transaction with them was due to inaccurate dimension of a long gun hardcase. It was supposed to be 52” long but it came 3” shorter and 1” thinner. They would not refund the the cost even though it was an error in description. They offered store credit but I took a Kbar knife instead. Unless you are sure of what you are buying, or you are in the store to physically check the item, it is better to buy it somewhere else.

I placed an order 6 months ago with them. They are garbage and i will never go back there. My order was $40 and i now just consider it lost. (FRAUD ALERT) closed the dispute

I called them to confirm they had a SKS stock on site and ready to ship. They put me on hold for a couple minutes and then said “yep we have it here”. I told them I’m putting in an online order right at that moment and they took my name and said they’ll keep it behind the counter with a note.

Three days later I get a call, they don’t have what I ordered in stock. They offered something else or a refund. They issued the refund while I was on the phone. Not bad service but I don’t think I’ll waste my time with them again.

I would never buy anything from them because of all the negative reviews. But they must be doing something right to keep them in business since 1991? Are their walk in sales better?

Potential reasons
1. They own the building & therefore have low overhead
2. they only employ family & therefore have low overhead
3. They live in an apartment above the shop & therefore have low overhead
4. they cheat on their taxes & aren't big enough to get audited.
5. they have another business on the side that enables them to keep the lights on. Maybe one of them is a tattoo artist or something.

But by all accounts they truly suck, so I'd bet on one or more of the above being accurate.

I almost bought something online from them ,put something in the cart online but something came up at the time and I didn t finalize my purchase.Shortly after I started recieving emails from them literally begging me to complete the purchase which I thought was real strange so I checked their reviews and found out about their lousy service

I placed an order with them yesterday through (FRAUD ALERT) before I had seen there reviews or these forums. Whats the best way of going about this? Refund or wait and see?

i was going to order the Gletcher nagant pellet gun seeing that no one else has them in stock but after reading the reviews and seeing that these guns are made in China I figured all I d get would be the it s coming from our warehouse story which of course is in china

They advertise and sell items that they don't have in stock and in some cases are not even manufactured anymore. I ordered several items which were listed as in stock. Turns out they were not in stock and had been on back order for months. Was given a laundry list of excuses and was given replacement items of much lower quality than what I had ordered plus store credit. They're fraudulent and in my opinion should be investigated for shady business practices. I was given the store credit for the difference in cost to what I had ordered from what I was sent but that was just to bait me into making further purchases as far as I'm concerned. I left the credit on my account and took the loss and learned a lesson. It's a shame to because they have cool products on the site that I would be interested in buying but I have my doubts they even have them.

I have only ever walked into the store to shop. They have a pretty decent selection of stuff. Reminds me of the good old days spending my allowance at King Sols in Toronto as a kid.
Recently I went to purchase a Diana 24( non pal) air rifle. They didn’t have it in stock so they ordered it in. When I went to pick it up, it was the newer Diana 240 model. Even though it was more money they ate the difference.

If you are in southern Ontario maybe its best to drive there and walk around the place. Bring your flyrod as the Rainbow Trout fishing is excellent in the Oshawa river and nearby Wilmot. I rarely catch less than 10 per hour in those rivers.
