The "ignore" feature works wonders.
Yep, but you hit it to often the guy's full of B.S. win, and corrupt those with a genuine interest

.
As with any hunting the only thing with the potential of being unethical is the man or woman behind the trigger. I have said this before and I will again. It has nothing to do with distance. I can't count the number of times I have gone hunting with individuals who have wounded an animal inside of 100yrds. Gutshot, leg shot...yada yada yada. People don't train or practice with thier firearms, get buck feaver or what ever, Thats why Rick, Glock and I are particular to who we hunt with. The same thing can happen with long range hunting. The key with either is......
KNOW YOUR LIMITS AND ABILITIES AND THAT OF YOUR RIFLE AND CARTRIDGE. practice practice practice
PAY ATTENTION TO WIND & WEATHER AND KNOW HOW YOUR RIFLE AND AMMO PERFORMS IN THE CONDITION YOU ARE HUNTING IN.
IF IN DOUBT, DON'T SEND IT OUT!! there's always another day.
Rick and myself and others have gotten alot of flack about LR hunting and thier perception of it. It is a science with the utmost of thought put into it as those who have hunted with us can attest. If there is something not right we don't shoot, no exceptions. When conditions are perfect for the shot we have a backup shooter ready with a follow up, just in case.......we have never had a just in case shot taken.
One fellow who came out with us 2years back was not comfortable with the distances we were shooting but totally amazed at what we had accomplished. Glockmaniac and myself spotted from a ridge above and guided Rick and him by radio into a position where he could comfortably make his shot.
Long range hunting is the most ethical and challenging hunting I have ever done. The animals go down totally relaxed, the meat is increadable as the animals have not been run down or chased and adrenilaned up. They are there doing thier thing, grazing, sleeping what ever then bang, game over. Out of the one herd we took 3 Mulies that didn't have a clue what happened and the remainder didn't run until we walked down from our position on an overlooking ridge to recover our animals.
There have been many times we have passed up on shots and animals due to something not being right...sun position, wind, weather, backstop etc. The sport is about dicipline and training as all hunting should be. There should be no talk of it being ethical or unethical as a sport. In my opinion it comes down to the ethics of the individual persueing the sport.
This ends my Sunday sermon. And hopefully the end of LR hunting is unethical.
