new here, but not new to guns. I'd like to get into some competitive pistol shooting, and eventually move on to some rifle events. I have a custom mauser(ish) in .243, a rem 700 delux in .270, some other rifles, and a SW MP 9mm. looking to buy an AR or norinco copy of the M4 in the next few months, and I could always use some people to shoot with. I hunt, so I normally try to stick to reasonable hunting rounds like the .270 or .30. I find it difficult to part with money over somthing that isnt really useful or really fun.

I work in aircraft maintenece, and work a week on week off rotation, so I usually have alot of time to shoot(sadly I dont shoot enough), due to a lack of knowledge of the area(calgary) and a lack of people who are interested.

Welcome

Yes its fun to shoot for the big bang, but I also agree that you should stay with what is practicle for ur use.
Have fun and stay safe....

actually, as far as the big bang, it has it's purpose... like some of the 338 magnum rifle rounds. awsome take down power for large game at extended ranges. I just cant justify a 22-250... things like that. my .243 is as good as I need for varmint, and it will still take a deer at 500 yards.

any one interested in going shooting around calgary, let me know. I'll shoot pistols shotguns, and I wouldnt mind getting into long range target rifle as well.
