Hey any Newfies on here.........................

I just joined. This is my first post.

I'm originally from Gander. My home is now California.

You have to have a green card to buy a gun here. If you only have a work visa then you must fill out a waver. That means going to your consulate and obtain a reference letter expressing your just cause for a firearm. You then submit it to the US attourney general to get the waver.

If you're buying a handgun then you must write a handgun safety certificate test and get your 5-year certificate card. The HSC card number is written on the DROS application to buy the gun. After you pay you wait 10 days before picking up your gun.

Just a heads up, once you get your restricted course done, the CFO here in NL will want proof of a gun club membership before you will be able to purchase any restricted firearms. You will also need to do the orientation course at the club before the CFO will accept the membership card.

The rod and gun club the closest to me?

Big difference in the republic of Kalifornia and the south. 30 round mags, safety buttons unless pre-ban are just a few. San Diego is really nice though.

I can't speak for the northern states but people in the south are friendlier and will give you the shirt off their back if you're a decent person. Made many friends down there. Been back twice since and our best friends/old neighbors refuse to let us get a hotel room or rent a car.
